Hi -- I'm owned by a tortie, too -- mine is also 17-years-old! Her name is Cappuccino, shortened now to Chi most of the time.
What made me laugh is when you mentioned that you don't go on holidays because you don't want to leave yours alone -- I'm in the same boat. An old friend of mine who was my roomie when we were just out of college does a house swap with me once a year- she gets a free week in my NYC apartment, I get to go on vacation knowing that Chi's happy with an old friend babysitting her. Other than that, if we have to travel I rent a car and she comes along for the ride.
Pitiful, I know, but hey -- when they've lived to this age they have earned that pampering, right?
