Little Miss She-Devil, Mandy is going to be spayed on March 16th. I did a little shopping around and found that the Michigan Humane Society Veterinary Clinic is the least expensive. Most of the veterinary hospitals I called insisted on charging me for an office visit in ADDITION to the cost of spaying. Some of them asked me if I wanted her declawed at the same time!!!  Each time they asked, I told them it was inhumane and I do NOT believe in it.

The Humane Society will cost me $80. Once she's spayed, I send a copy of the certificate along with the $25 voucher to the City of Trenton and I'll get a $25 refund.

I also called a "Low Cost Spay Neuter Clinic" listed in the yellow pages. They wanted $185!!!

I sure wish I still lived in Connecticut. They have a low cost spay/neuter van that goes around the state charging $45 for spaying/neutering, with shots, earmite medicine, deworming and nail trimming included!!!!

Wow that expensive! Im glad to hear your getting the baby fixed. Good for you and good for her. I can't beleive the prices. Texas-dallas and fort worth have many specials this month, dallas is 5 cents and fort worth is 1, maybe a visit here would help :D

That's insane Donna! I paid $25 to have Zam spayed at the Grand Rapids Low Cost spay neuter clinic and $15 to have Logan snipped at the local Humane Society.

Give Mandy some snuggles for me.

It does amaze me the differance in the prices that vets in the same area will charge. I would have had to inform that low cost clinic that they needed to recheck the prices others charge because theirs were terriably HIGH! (Maybe even suggested they change their name to "High Cost....)

Even though those are cheap prices, they do require a rabies shot. That is 6 bucks i think, I personally would NEVER take any cat there. There is a humane society here , and if you call them, they will send you what is called a SNYP coupon, males are 20 bucks and females 35, I take these coupons to the mobile vet and they also require a rabies, again 6 bucks. So my total is cheap enough that I am able to also add other test, worming ect things to it. Still keeping it affordable, as to continue rescueing.
