It's Toby's birthday! Or it was, 4 days ago. He turned 9 on Feb 2nd. Sorry I didn't write you a thread then boy, but I can't get online much at the moment ...
Toby, I can't believe you're 9 already! I still remember the day I first saw you and it seems like just yesterday instead of more than 8 years ago. I still can't understand why anyone would have abandoned you, or why you hadn't been adopted sooner, the people at the shelter said you'd been there nearly 2 months. But it was everyone else who lost out, because you ended up coming home with us, and that was the best day of my life. :)
I remember the first night you came home, Dad said you'd be sleeping in your basket in the kitchen, but by the end of the night you were cuddling up with me, and he didn't have the heart to stop you. Potty training was interesting, no-one had ever bothered to teach you to go outside before, but eventually you got the idea. I remember teaching you all kinds of things. I had no idea how to go about training you, but I must have done something right, because everyone tells me how clever you are and how they wish their dogs were as well behaved.
I know you're getting older boy, I remember how sick you got last year, how could I forget? I really thought I was going to lose you and it broke my heart. I should've known you'd fight and be ok, when have you ever sat back and let people push you around?! :p
You were my first dog, and you've been everything I expected but so much more. You're always there when I need you, my baby, my confidant and my best friend. I hate to think of you getting older, but I know we'll have many more years together, and that's all I could ever ask for. Happy 9th Birthday, Toby :D
