Awhile back, we talked about shopcats and whether or not we would return to a store that had one. I told you about our florist and her shopcat - well - here is Dusty!! I told the owner, Carolyn about PT and the thread, and she sent me this picture. Dusty is about 14-15 years old and is the welcoming force at the flower shop, Hollon's Flowers, here in Fairborn, OH where I live. Dusty is happy to show you around, stop for some lovins and just makes the visit all that much more enjoyable.:D

Do you have any shopcats pictures or stories to share??

Well I don't have any pictures but can share a story with you.

We have a sports collectible store just outside of the town I grew up in. Well, I decided that I needed some new T-shirts of my favorite NASCAR driver and decided to stop into the shop.

As I opened the door I was greeted by this wonderful, beautiful, affectionate kitty who was doing "kitty rolls" all over the floor. You will have to forgive me as I do not remember her name.

She followed me all over the store looking for any love that she could get. So I sat down on the floor with her and gave her a good belly rub and some nice lovings. The store owner came over and asked if he could help me find something but I told him I was just looking and having a really good time with the kitty.

I think what I found the most interesting was that in this sports store all the men that came in all gave this special "shop kitty" lovings as well. :)

MOMMA CAT IS A SHOP CAT!

She showed up a few years ago with 3 little kittens. They were out side hiding under some tin, so I brought them in and she raised them, I adopted them all out. (except Lola)Then I took her down had her spayed and here she sits. I manage a Mobile Home Park and she greats everyone that comes in. All the tenants love her and they all feed her so she's really fat. My boss doesn't say anything. But sometimes I wonder what his thoughts are, hehehe, oh well she is a great cat, and we all love her here.

Our local "feed" store has a big gray cat that always sits on top of the cash register and welcomes any and all attention he receives there. His name is Rascal. We buy our bird seed there. I'm sure they have a ton of mice around the place, but the owner of the shop says Rascal is content to lay on the register these days and just accept attention. I think he's starting to get up there in years, so he's had enough of the hard work catching mice. :D

Last time we were in (last weekend) he was making air biscuits as I was petting him. :D :D

oh, and since I have no pics, you can use Jessica, Daisy or Samantha as your mental image. :D

In a used bookstore where the hubby and I always go for our anniversary, there's an adoring, sweet shopcat whose favorite place to sleep is in the box of Magic cards near the register. She's huge, fat, and loves to escort visitors all over the store. She's incredibly fat and sweet, and always a joy to meet.

Meg - that is cute about the tough sports guys enjoying the shopkitty!!

MCM - now momma cat is a REAL shop cat! It is good to see her at work;)

Heather - I think I would be inclined to use that particular bookshop just to see the kitty!!

My mum has three shop cats. She is a beautican and three little tortie girls love to help her out by getting under her feet and jumping on the counters as much as possible. They love it when people are under the dryers because they've got a lap then that can't get away!

I totally forgot about a few other shopkitties until Debbie (T&P's mom) mentioned the local "feed" store.

I go to several different feed stores that have shop kitties. I did not realize that this one store had a shopkitty until I was looking in the kitty supply section and what I thought was a large white stuffed animal turned out to be a real life kitty.....much to my surprise as I tried to pick the "animal" up like it was just a stuffed kitty.

Also when Mark and I vacation up in New Hampshire (the White Mountains) there is a bird supply store that I love to go into to look around. They have a sign on their front door to not let the cats out. So of course I was really interested now.....I found one kitty laying on some sweatshirts for sale and I found the other kitty laying on top of a bird feeder. The store owner said that if I was interested in that particular feeder that he had another one in the back.....so as not to distrub the kitty. :)

Our vet also has a kitty but you never see him. His name is Alexander and he does not like dogs......seems funny that he would be in the vets office. My understanding is that Alex keeps the girls in the back offices company and makes the day go by nicer.

My husband and I often go to a garden-center, to buy or look for new plants for our garden. Our favorite shop is only 1 km away from our house! We both love going there, but NOT only because of the plants!! They have 3 gorgeous cats, who may run around freely IN the shop, and OUTSIDE in the glasshouses! As soon as they spot a client, they come closer, begging for a chin-rub! One of them even always begs for a belly-rub, and loves to be picked up! Would you believe they never break anything? They walk in between the flowerpots, as if it was breakable glass!
I LOVE to go there (even if we don't need anything ;) )

ps. In fact they used to have 4 cats, but one orangie accidently fell into a deep water-bassin, and drowned....:( . They found her next morning:(
