Yesterday we took my in-laws to the San Diego Wildlife Park....in the rain (does it EVER not rain here in SUnny California???)

Anyway.... we went to the lion hangout.

This lion saw a tasty little morsel that would make an excellent appetizer...

What do I have to do to get a meal around here?

Wow!!! That is really neat you can see them up that close! We've never been there, but would love to one of these days.

How cool to be that close! I would love to be able to see that someday.
I would have had to pick up the baby! That is just to close even with glass. I would have had a heart attack! I think it would be knowing that my kid would be dinner if it weren't for that simple plate of glass!

Great pictures!

I heard about that park and I thought if I ever get to go to California, I'll visit it!

I've been to that park and to the San Diego zoo and I think they both beat Seaworld! The park gives you an original safari feeling as all the plant eaters are simply there outside, together in a big open space.

We can see why the meat eaters are not with them:D

I am happy to see that most of my co- Pet talkers are worried for the baby and not sorry for the poor lion who cannot get her treats;)

YUM YUM! :D

I'm afraid I couldn't have left my child sitting there. I once saw an adult male lion launch his full weight against the glass at Edinburgh zoo. In an enclosed space, the noise of the roar and the vibration when he hit, were terrifying. He seemed to have decided that the bucket of raw meat his keeper was holding was just not enough that day! He was having the keeper!

Didn't they used to have a webcam at the San Diego zoo? Do I remember pandas?

me too   !! Didn't the baby notice that lion at all??? Well, I sure hope so  . I wouldn't dare to be so close to a wild animal, even if the animal is behind glass!! I know, I'm a whimp.....;)

As cat crazy as I am, I confess I never once thought about that! Barbara, your comment had me laughing aloud!

I admit the last time I visited the lion house at the San Francisco zoo, the lion's roar echoed so through the house, it freaked me out. I'm surprised the baby didn't freak at the sound, if not the sight!
