Do any of you use Skype? If so, do you like it?

Keeping up with ICQ, AIM, MSN, and Yahoo is enough work so I don't use Skype.

I use it, and I LOVE IT!!!!!

Especially good if you have friends overseas that you want to chat to.

I am attempting to get delidog onto it, so I can chat to her!!!!

Sara,

It is great for chatting to overseas friends.

All you do is when you see them online, you click on the GREEN handset, and they answer, and using the Internet connection you both have, you can TALK!!! No charge (except perhaps if you pay for dialup Internet), but WAyyyyyyy cheaper!!!

It is fantastic to just "chat" too - like MSN

I like Trillian. I haven't put it on my new computer yet but it handles AIM, Yahoo, ICQ and MSN messenger too, I think. You can sign into all of them. www.trillian.cc

WOW Val - that looks pretty good too!!!

I must admit I have MSN Yahoo ICQ id's, but I cannot use them from work, and don't use the PC much at home - so SKype works for me from that point of view.

However, I have alot of friends who will love trillian - Thanks so much!!

LOL! If you have a microphone connected to your computer, you just 'talk'. They also have headsets you can wear with an attached mic. You can voice chat on pretty much any instant messenger.

Hee hee - Sara!

I use my laptop at work, and it has a built in microphone which works well.
However I do have a headset, that has microphone that is attached to it, and that is fantastic!!!

stand alone Microphones are not that expensive for the PC, but with a headset, you can chat without waking anyone, and also hear much better. They simply plug into your PC - usually they have 2 connections - one for the headset, and the other for the microphone.

Let us know, I would love to "chat" :D

I was really surprised at the amount of people on this thread who had never heard of Skype until I realised it was from more than two years ago! :D

Now that every other chat program seems to have stopped working for me, I will look into it. Yes, Randi, I promise! ;)

We used it last year when we traveled to China. It worked great, especially when we added a headset with a microphone.

I use it. I wish more people did! I don't understand how you can NOT use it. It's a free phone service basically! I have a macbook with built in microphone and camera so it's incredibly easy. My step-dad is in Japan right now and we're in the US so we talk to him most nights (mornings for him) with the camera and microphone.
I'm slytherinquoll on skype.

I was over at my SIL's last night for dinner and after we finished dessert, my SIL fired up Skype and we literally chatted with my niece who is now in India. It was the coolest thing and I don't know why I waited so long to get on board. When I got home I was so excited that I created myself and account. :)
