Well, I was able to pet the momma cat's head for a few brief moments this after ... but then tonight I tried to stick my finger through the bars to stratch her chin / nose and she lashed out at me again! Slow and steady I suppose!

Here is a picture of her last night .... hiding in her litter pan:

A few more taken today ... she is finally enjoying her very warm and comfy bed!;)

She still hasn't eaten anything, but at least she has had some water! ;)

This one was taken during the time of day when she allowed me to pet her head today ... she was having a calm moment!

Isn't she pretty? I just want to love her so badly! :(

Her precious little boy is coming around nicely though ... a little nervous, not purring yet ... but will lie on the bed near us and we can pet him fairly easily! He's a real cutie, and I need NAMES for both of them!

What a gorgeous pair of kitties, and lucky to be rescued. The little guy reminds me of my RB boy "Cecil" who was such a character.

It sure is obvious they are mom and son, huh? Their faces are so much alike, right down to the darling spot on the right of their nosies!:D I am just concerned that he might have fathered mom's litter? He certainly is mature enough! :( What do you think?

aaww! How sweet! How many rescues do you usually have at a time? Do you let them all run around in the house? I would love nothing more than to foster some kitties, but my bf said no...can't hardly handle 2. What a wimp!:D

Kim they're both beautiful. You might try covering her carrier with a towel where she can't see you and she may eat this way. They feel safe when they're covered. It's worth a try.

OK, Lisa ... I will try that ... because if she is indeed pregnant, she NEEDS to be eating!!!;)

Make sure any area where she could see you is covered. If a towel is too small you could use a sheet, etc. Let me know if it works. You might try leaving her covered over night.

They are both adorable. Good luck with them Kim and bless you for taking them in. :)

Kim they are really pretty kitties! That little guy looks like Leroy with half of his mustache! What a cutie!
Is he eating ok? The one weird thing I found with my ferals was the only way I could get them to eat once they came inside was to mix stinky wet food in with the dry. They had the same problem at the shelter. I don't know but maybe its from eating softer people food scraps and live prey. It seemed the wilder the cat the less chance they would eat the dry food. If she doesn't eat soon you may want to try that to get her going.
I will be praying that she settles in soon. It is good news that you got to pet her a little today. She sounds like she is going to be a little on the moody side.;) :D
Good luck!:)

Oh my goodness! Hew looks so much like my Harry! you simply must name him Adam -- that is what I wanted to name Harry but hubby insisted he liked the name Harry (so Harry it stayed :p ) Give him a kis for me (if he'll let you) and moomma needs something soecial sicne she's so pretty and scared. Something soothing to say... how about Laura Lee? Laurelee? I'm thinking double Ls because they are so soft. Anyway... I'm rambling! :D

Here is a tip for the mama. With cagney, who was a real wildcat, all thre pounds of her. I had her in a cage like you do and I would go sit with her on the floor, this was before i could pet her. I got one of the cat toys, the one that has the mouse that goes around in a circle in the round plastic thing( wish i had a pic, my description is bad) I would set it beside the cage and play with the toy in front of her. She would watch and was very interested in it. it didn't take long for her to start sticking her paw out of the cage and trying to play with it. i would let her play with it and eventually after she was comfortble with it while she was playing i started petting her ear. At first she freaked out but then she realized she liked it and would let me pet her ears. i worked my way up from that.
Melissa
I foudn a pic of her playing with it after i had let her out of her cage.

Thanks so much for all the great advice. Little boy doesn't seem to be eating ... he did come up on my desk and sniff at my pizza though, but wasn't interested in that either!

Lisa ... I have a large bed sheet over the cage now ... hope to hear some crunching soon! ;)
I will bring out all the smelly things I can think of ... I did just buy a can of tuna!

Doo... thanks for the advice, will try that .. your pic didn't show up, but I have one of the toys you are speaking of! :)

GOOD NEWS! They BOTH like Iams Canned Kitten food! Which is perfect because the boy is still technically a kitten, and a nursing mom needs the extra calories!!!:D

So did covering the cage help, or were they just too hungry?:)

 Wow! It's like the more orange version of Zam and Logan!

Calico mom; tabby and white son.....

part feral.

Except Zam is the cuddly one and Logan is the skittish one.

They are so adorable! :D And I love the orange spot they share. :)

They could be Marylin for the mama and Monroe for the boy, cause they both have her famous (pre-Cindy Crawford) beauty spot!

Kim,

I'm glad you were able to get both of them. You have them separated, right? I think once you start handling the orange boy, he'll settle down. They both just need a little tlc. If anyone can do it, it's you!!!! Wish I was closer. I'd help you out. I love working with ferals.
