With the upcoming Bridal Shows I wanted an idea of what to look for when it came to style and color. :)

I picked out a color and style for my bridesmaids dresses and 4 out of the 5 love it! (My one sister hasn't said either way, but mom suspects she'll like it) Am I lucky or what? *grins* My bridesmaids rock!

I decided on Periwinkle for the color. Here's the dress in that color:

Here are my top two choices for a wedding gown.

Gown #1 (http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=837&prodgroup=10)

Gown #2 (http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_detail.jsp?stid=961&prodgroup=10)

Gown 1 is traditonal yet unique. Gown 2 is similar to the bridesmaid dress. Of course everything can change once I start trying them on. :) I look forward to that. :D

We'll see if the ones I picked are on special at the Bridal Shows. That would be so awesome. :D

What do ya'll think?

The bridesmaid dresses are perfect. That's the color I wore for my boyfriend's sister’s wedding when I was a bridesmaid. It looks good on a lot of skin colors/types. I love the first wedding gown, but they are both beautiful :). I'm so excited for you :D

I love the color of your bridesmaid dress! Its a beautiful color that any skin tone could pull off well.

I like dress #2 better - I'm more along the lines of "simple is better"... you want YOU to radiate on your wedding day, not the dress! :D

Periwinkle is my favorite color!!! Great choice! I like #2 Personally. :)

Congratulations:)

Kimmy,

They're beautiful! I love the color periwinkle.

I love them all! The first gown is beautiful, but I think I like the second better, it goes so well with the bridesmaids dresses, and like Kim says, you want YOU to shine, not the dress. I remember way back when, when I was planning a wedding, I bought a dress that was simple, yet elegant, and I still believe that is the way to go. Some just go way over board with floofy and flouncy and gauzy and eewww.... You can never go wrong with simple yet elegant, and I think you're definitely on the right track with these choices. :D

And trying on is SO fun! Be sure to have at least 2 or 3 of the girls with you, along with your mom. Some of them you will know the second you slip into it that it's the way wrong one, but you will all get a good laugh out of it. I was going to wear a hat instead of a veil. Well...we were in tears when my maid of honor tried on a hat I wanted her and the bridesmaids to wear! She most definitely does NOT do hats well, and we laugh about it to this day. :D

One future bride to another Kimmy. I would go with number 2. Simple and elegant are the way to go. I'm still fiddling with the bridesmaids dresses, but this is my wedding dress. Its the one with the short sleeves.

Thanks for the input gals! :D

Renae, I was looking at patterns at JoAnn Fabrics around November and I loved that style! (I like the long sleeves too. :D )

I like both dresses but #2 probably more. I love the bridemaid's dress. My nieces wore periwinkle in my wedding. Great color....

They are both beautiful but I like number 2 just a little better. The bridesmaid's dresses are really nice.

Your bridesmaid's dresses are beautiful and I would go with dress #2, also.

Kimmy, they are all lovely, and I know you will look lovely in either of those dresses. I was so worried about having bare arms (don't have the most toned arms in the world :o ) that I insisted on long sleeves both times. The first time, I could have probably gotten away with sleeveless. The 2nd time, NOT!!! :D You're young and lovely and will look beautiful in anything you wear!!! :D

I like dress #1 better, as it is still simple, but not quite as similar to the bridesmaids dresses. Empire-waist bridal gowns always make me think of the two pregnant brides whose weddings my Mom played for years ago, the empire waist is theoretically good for "disguising" pregnancy, or at least keeping nosier relatives guessing, so I'm probably just biased against dress #2 for that reason!

Beautiful!!!!!!!!

What a fun time in your life--enjoy it:)

I love the bridesmaid dresses, and as far as the bridal gowns go, I like #2 better, but, like you said, who knows what will happen once you actually see them in person!!!

I love both dresses. The 2nd will look really pretty walking down the aisle, with the way the sheer fabric will flow...it does look similiar to the bridesmaids dress, but if that is okay with you, then I would go with #2...#1 is beautiful too!!

Once you put on that veil while you are trying them on, you will really feel like a bride...! Congrats, what a fun time!!

I love the brides maid's dresses..

and I love both wedding dresses... I want to say the second is my favorite.. but then I want to lean more toward the first.. maybe because it is more traditional...

Once you try them on you will know for sure which one you want..

either way you will look beautiful!!!:D

Kimmy...

The bridesmaid dress is really cute and something they can wear again...always a good thing. :)

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE dress #1 so much. Its much more elegant than #2. It literally took my breath away....gorgeous!!!!

Whichever you decide, I'm sure you'll look BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Thanks! :D

Seems dress #2 is the overall favorite, but again, it may not look right on me so we'll see. :)

When I actually get around to trying dresses on, I'll have my friends and mom take pictures. :D

I love the bridesmaids dresses.
As for the bride- I would try it on first.
I've married two times and never in white- the first was a liberty flower print dress down in 1975 when I was kind of a hippie bride:D (My husband had a white suit with bell bottoms and a green shirt with tiny white flowers :D :D :D )
The second time in 1995 I wore a black suit.

Now I sometimes think that I should have worn a real white princess dress the first time, thick silk satin, handmade lace or whatever- just because you will never have an opportunity again in your life;)

When you are young, it will make you look adorable. When you are older (like me the second time) it is not that much fun.

Why always be elegant and grown up and rational- it's one day in your life:D

Barbara....a hippie bride???!!!??  Cool  Someday I have to see pictures of that. :D

In 1977 my brother had his senior picture taken. He also wore a white suit with bell bottoms. :D I don't remember the shirt, but I'm sure it was some polyster patterned something or other. :D

Very pretty bridesmaid's dress!!! I might be the only one here that likes the first wedding dress. I've always liked elegant wedding dresses. :) They are both very pretty though.

I LOVE those bridesmaid dresses, they are absolutely gorgeous, both style and colour.

Both wedding dresses are beautiful. You would need to see them on before you could decide. :D

Thanks for letting us see the dresses Kimmy - I adore No: 1 - it's so elegantly classical. But you have to try them both on before you decide - you may surprise yourself and choose something very different!!
I think either dress will look to well 'escorted' by that bridesmaid dress.

He he he Barbara - when I got married in 1970 I wore a white wool mini-dress and a mini fake fur coat (it was late March and it DID snow slightly on our wedding day!!).

OMG!!!!!!!!!!
I just wore that bridesmaid's dress this past summer in my friends wedding!!!!! OMG! The same color too!!!!!!
How weird!! I'll have to scan pictures so you can see.

#1 word of advise, if any of the girls in the wedding party are overweight at all (like me :o) the dress looks like a maternity dress (like it did on me:o )
It is a beautiful dress, and looks great on skinny people!
Be sure to not even get a drip of water on the dress, it shows up big time, because of the material. I still can't belive it's the same dress and color!!! I can't wait to go home tonight and post pictures. Not like I really want everyone to see how fat I am:o but so that you can see the dress on 'real' people!

Barbara, I just cannot see you as a hippie bride. :D

Angie - WOW! Talk about minds thinking alike. :D I can't wait to see you in that dress. :)

I LOVE dress #1. It's beautiful.
Where are you getting married? Dress #2 is very pretty, it'd be great for a small outdoor wedding.

What excellent taste you have, both gowns are beautiful, I love the colour and style of the bridesmaids, so elegant and pretty, I would have to go with the matching Bride frock so it is gown 2 that gets my vote, gorgeous, whatever you choose you will be simply radiant and shining.

KBlaix - We're planning a July 1st, 2006 wedding. :)
