Fox news said today it may be WEEKS (if ever) before the shuttle goes up.

Hope your BBQ goes off lots better than their liftoff!!! :D

Not sure which "Hens" you're refering to -
but if it's the Three Amigos (the "Kids") - don't hold your breath!

They *checked in* with the Ranch at 6 pm (your time) - ALL talkin at once -
Saying traffic was too bad to attempt a return to Party HQ ...
they were gonna "kill time" in a Mall they happened upon!

Has the Plummin Crisis been rectified?

Have Richard and his able Monkey Helper finished the Back Yard Preps
without suffering any permanent injuries?

Seems rather *quiet* out there. :p

10:30 pm and the BBQ hostess is going to bed!

What a day - I was the last to take a shower and I looked down to realize that I was standing in 2 - 3" of water. Isn't that supposed to go down the drain??? Hmmmm...........

Laurie is having a lot of fun teasing me because I shared that I only got one leg shaved.............the rest of you may as well tease me too...............old porcupine one leg.

Dealing with the plumbing took a couple of valuable hours out of the afternoon - but you all know how that goes - started out a horrible disaster - ended up getting fixed (after they got that big witch with the long wiry hair out of the plumbing). Thank goodness it didn't happen tomorrow with 20-25 people all using the facilities!!

Now Mary is Mruffruff from South Carolina. We at this hour have not heard from her......if she has arrived I can assure you that she is beyond exhausted! Hopefully we will hear from her in the morning.

Amberlee and Tracey are here as well - and we talked to them on the phone. We will see them tomorrow.

The "Mall" girls have not shown up - and what that means is that they have "shopped til they dropped" and they have "dropped"
at the local Cheesecake Factory for some yummy food.
It really makes me happy that the three girls are together and having a good time. I refuse to be Mother Hen and worry about them - all three deserve this vacation and I hope they are having the best time together.

So in preparation for tomorrow - we are going to bed fairly early - still lots to do in the morning.

Richard was again a huge help - and of course, Slick and Laurie
helped too.

See you in the morning...............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yes!! She made it at 3.48 - safe and sound but not after being stuck in traffic and taking the "scenic route" (aka lost;) ).

It's Staci---

we survived the mall
we conquered the Cheesecake Factory
And we didn't even need Mapquest directions!!! :p

And we rreeaallyy wanted to kidnap the waiter for Tonya and the lil bartender for ME!!! ;)
And Kelly is boycotting men so she was just the responsible one!!
**singing**If I had a lil white box to put them in!!!**singing**

Then we went to Albertson's for supplies - and we tried to guess how many pens the cashier had on his apron. Hmmmm Less then 70 more then 68!! Then we were offerered to go to the Freezer section or the semi private room for ahemmmmm.
But we said No - like good lil Catholic girls that we

aren't! ;)

Ok, ok, so you created a legend for that special mall:D Another place that wants to be warned about the next BBQ so they can put warning signs on:D

Randi and Sara- loved your pics. Tells us many details about you. E.g. if you look what Gini has in her hands most of the time- Randi you must have liked this:D

If anybody wonders where Sara's elegant red purse comes frm- it's original Florence:D

MARY IS HERE!!!

It is 3:00 a.m. California time and a few moments ago my phone rang and it was Mary - on my street - but not too sure of the address. We all got up and started looking for Mary - and sure enough like a very tired waif - along came Mary.

Poor thing has had a terrible time all around. Her flight from home to Dulles was late - and she missed her connecting flight to Los Angeles. Independence Air didn't seem to care much and all they would do is put her on the next (days) flight.

She went directly to her hotel - confirmation paper in hand and they told her NOPE - WE DON'T HAVE A RESERVATION FOR YOU.

Poor lady didn't know what to do except call me. Thank goodness she did!

Just by chance, there is an open bed here because Zippy decided to spend the night with Kelly and Staci.

Mary I am sure is sound asleep right now - and soon Laurie, Slick and I will as well and we will check back in - in a few hours!!

In a few hours the party starts........................:p :p

Woohoo, just checking in moments ago!!

OMG, lots of new posts here!! Are we trying to beat a record here??;)

So, WHERE is everybody now?? All sleeping  ?? He he, wake up guys, Belgium home base is waiting for the international connection with the Gini-home-station!!:D By the way, it is past 2 pm here, so California better get up now!!

Don't forget to take tons of pics, okay!

ps. I didn't check in since Wednesday, as we were in ..... NORMANDY!! We went for 3 days, and had a great time!! It was really warm and sunny! My shoulders are very much burned:eek:

So glad to hear that Mary made it!! And, frankly, Mary 'knowing' she could call on a fellow PTer for lodging brought tears to my eyes! Gini, being the gracious hostess, of course brought her into her home.

I wonder how much of a 'kick' you all would get with me calling to say good morning right now! 5 15 AM CA time...he he he...

I can't wait for the pictures, the stories, the fun to begin.

Laurie checking in from Gini's. Everyone here is snoozing except the orangies and me. I've started the coffee and just hope my clickity click on the computer doesn't wake up Gini in the next room. The four tons of chicken are still frozen solid so that's my first agenda... chicken patrol.... after I have a cup of coffee of course (um, maybe with a shot of Slicks Baileys). Ieee doggies, she made six bottles of the stuff  Lots to do this a.m. - lemonade, extra tables and all but many willing hands to help so it will no doubt go like the first few days... lots of belly laughs and guffaws. What an adventure, and the "party" hasn't even really started :p

Report from "headquarters"....................

Slick has taken over backyard clean up duties - everything is now sparkling and clean.

Laurie is setting up some kind of breakfast..................

Mary has been given onion slicing duties for a the casseroles.......
yes and she is now crying.

(Mary is just a trooper after her huge ordeal and we have her already laughing over goofy stuff in the kitchen - such a nice lady!)

I truly don't know what I would do without all of them helping out.

Yesterday my sense of humor completely failed me as I was dealing with the plumbing problems. I woke up with a much better attitude.

Annie is now warming up to the girls - and I understand that she got a good belly rub from Slick. I tried to tell her - but it has taken a few days for her to warm up to all of this company. Emma just doesn't "do" company.

It is my turn in the shower - so let's see if I can clog it all up again today:D :D

Oh my! Such activity and goings on! Our day, by comparison, seems so calm. We started the day yesterday with a wonderful breakfast with some yummy yummy eggs, sausage, cheese cuiche type dish made by Sara and some delicious fruit and yogurt made by Randi. They we went on a hike through the neighborhood, up the steeeep hill to see the view, then down through the mansions and we all picked out "our" house. Then we lounged around - in the pool and on the patio. Then went had a wonderful dinner at great place where the deck overlooks the harbor, but we couldn't sit outside because there was a 125 member wedding rehearsal party hogging the entire deck. Can you imagine - 125 for the rehearsal dinner? What is the wedding going to be like? We finished the evening with a walk around the docks and fed our left over fish to some feral cats. They gobbled it up! Came back and some of us hit the pool again, Terry and I went to bed - pooped!

So, today is the day! I think we're leaving here around noon so Gini, expect us around 1:00 or so. Can't wait!!!

Zip here:

Aaron, Karen and I are the only ones up. Phoebe, Micah, Noah, and I are thinking of waking the other sleepy heads but are tying to be good and let them rest! Think I"ll just jump in the shower first, while it's open.

So exciting! I am soooo glad Mary finally made it, and now we all know to never to fly Independence Air - at least not if you want to arrive anywhere on a particular day!

Hugs to everyone!

Amberlee and KAK arrived a few minutes ago.....the stove is burning away and things are quieting down. the anticipation is building and OH!! I just heard a gale of laughter from the kitchen...

LOLOLOL, we are down to one hour and ten minutes.....before we can officially start!!!!

Barbara,

We really do need some more Europeans to 'represent'.

Sending Randi to check us out was smart....

Karen,
Thank you for checking in.

All the fun we have today will be because of you, Paul, Ms. Hoppy and Pet Talk.

Thank you again for putting this site and all these great pet lovers together...

KAK and I are reading the posts and slurping virgin slushies (MUCH to Richard's disgust! we don't give him scope for his imagination!)

UABassoon and Alexa (sorry, I've forgotten her screen name) and Catland and the mister are all here and we're happily getting to know one another. Gini's put up some flags at the base of one of her trees that represent the countries and states represented this BarBQue... Oh I wish I were better at recognizing them so I could get a better guess for the Mystery Guest. I'm hoping someone will post the signpost Richard's having us make to represent the distances travelled. I think you'll love it.

KAK's back over my shoulder and sends warm regards. You've just been saluted with a slushie. Don't you all wish you were here?

(Oh! The hors d'ouvres (or however you spell it) are delicious. Wish that you could be enjoying them, too.)

The Goldens from across the street are here. Bye.

Hi Everyone!!!!!! :) Mary, I'm so glad to know that you are there, safely. And Karen, what a wonderful Mystery Guest you were for everyone!!!!

I just know you are all having a wonderful time and I'm sort of sick that I'm not right there in the middle of it all. We probably did the "smart" thing, but it sure isn't any consolation that we did. :( :(

After rubbing her down carefully - Randi and Gini shook hands on their successful effort.

Gini only charged Julie - $1.00 for the wash - and $2.00 for the dry and $3.00 for the loan of temporary clothing. Oh, forgot the tax of 8.75%.

Zip and Stace here. The party is winding down and my eastern friend is severely laggin' due to the time difference (and slushies and home-made baileys ;) ) and hopin' the firemen show up at Kelly's apartment.

The plan for tomorrow (at least for Stace, Kel, Karen/Aaron and I):
The piercing/tattoo shop, Malibu beach, and Sephora. Laura and Alexa are going to explore Disneyland. Fun!! Monday, we're meeting back up with them and going to the bunny sanctuary, Sephora (again ;) ), and more shopping. After that, plans are in the air!

Today was so much fun and the people were SUCH great company! We wish everyone could attend! Maybe next year?

It is exactly 2:20 am - and I finally convinced everyone that it is time to say goodbye to the Third Annual Pet Talk BBQ.

When everyone has a good rest - I know that lots of pictures will be posted for you to enjoy.

I think everyone was just having too much fun to spend much time on the computer. Randi tried to get everyone on to ICQ - but we waited and she was the only member logged on...........
so she went back out and partied some more.

I am beyond tired and very happy this early morning. I think it would be safe to say that everyone had a great time - having the cute firemen show up sure didn't hurt one bit.

nite nite!!

Gini, I got the email about ICQ, but when I clicked on the link and went in as a guest, there were people there, but not you guys, I think. I closed it how when someone asked if there were any hot guys in there. I have no idea how ICQ works. Didn't know how to get to where you guys were chatting. You needed to be spending your time with each other anyway. :) What was the total head count? You all look so good and so happy! :)

Zippy here:
How is it that I'm always the early riser? lol But that's ok, these "early" mornings allow me to have Kelly's kitties all to myself. Just a minute ago, I had Noah on my lap, Phoebe on the monitor, Micah at my feet, and Bazie at the window (immediately to my right). Jonah? Not sure where that sweet guy is; I think he sleeps late like his mommy. :p

Oh! And last night, that handsome devil Rascal allowed Staci and I to "share" him. (He took the middle cushion on the sofa, Stace and I had each end.)

What a wonderful time last night! More than that, what wonderful people! (Even more than that, what wonderful FIREMEN! :D ) This truly is one of the most enjoyable places and events... if you get the chance to attend 2006, GO!

I didn't bring my usb cable w/ me, so my pics will have to wait until some time after Tuesday. Actually, I think many are staying until Tues so all the pics might not be posted until then.

Noah just moved and Bazie took his place. I was headed off to the shower but who could resist a cuddle first?

BBQ headquarters here - I was positive that I was the last one to get up - but found Slick fast asleep and Laurie and Mary with sleepies still in their eyes.

Richard, who brought his sleeping bag and crashed in my office (smart guy - no driving!) is still asleep.

The coffee pot has been put to good use and we are all sitting around laughing over all of the events that occurred yesterday.

I woke up with thoughts of what I could do to properly thank the firemen for taking time out of their day to drive over here and scare the "H___" out of all of the neighbors and give us more laughs than we could have in a lifetime.

Try to explain to the Fire Captain Finn (who by the way is the Fireman of the Year of all of Los Angeles) exactly what is
Pet Talk!! I think we gave them something to talk about too.

And my second thought was - "now how can I get even with Phred" who was responsible for tracking down the right station for my area and convince them to show up at my home"

Phred - told you on the phone - you are in BIG TIME trouble!:D :D

Also - just so all of you know - without the GIANT help from Slick, Laurie and especially Richard - this BBQ wouldn't have happened!

We all talked about the fact that we are making and cementing lifelong friends - no - not the right word - I think FAMILY is the right word!

Well, I've been up for a while and I must say that yesterday had to top the charts. Ever since I've been up, I've been going over and over in my mind the events of the day. Yes, the preparation work was busy, but you know, the end result was more than I expected. Today, I feel like it's December 26th. All the shopping, wrapping and deliveries over and done with, and it's another year before we start all over again. Kind of sad in a way....

I was so happy to be able to spend time with Karen from Scotland, Debbie and Terry, Laura and Alexa, and everyone else who attended. To me, it was like one big family reunion. Lots of hugs were exchanged and good wishes were sent out to those one their way home today - Karen along with Debbie and Terry.

I don't know what lies ahead for the next couple of days. I'm taking the train over to Sara's on Tuesday so I can meet the E's and spend some more time with Sara, Don, and Randi. Both Randi and I leave to go home on Wednesday.

I strongly urge all of you to start saving your pennies and attend the BBQ next year....if the neighbourhood will allow it. :D

Phred, thanks for sending over the fireman....now all my fantasies have come true....well, almost! :D :D

Good morning everyone..............before coming here I went online to check on mruffruff's flight (Mary). It tells me that even though it left even later than scheduled it DID ARRIVE in Washington Dulles. However, it arrived too late for her to make her connection home. It was supposed to leave at 11:40 pm - and it didn't leave until 1:13 am...........

Slick and I took her to the airport last night. What a fun and dear lady! She wanted an adventure - well she sure as heck got one.
Her walking around the streets of Los Angeles at 2 in the morning is what knocked me out. - No hotel reservation - can you believe that - with a confirmation paper in hand and she had her sister call the hotel to say she was late!  We have had so much fun teasing her and asking her if she REALLY IS MARY - or some bag lady that saw my sign WELCOME TO THE HOUSE OF ORANGE .........and just walked in.

Debbie, thanks for answering the "how many"........we did the same thing last night and came up with a total of 28 people in attendance.

But then you have to add the four firemen! WHOO HOOOO!!

The young man that attended is Pam's son in law. The unknown couple Janice and Chris are dear friends who own Lexi the snowshoe siamese that I house sit for. I have posted before about Lexi.

We never did hear a final yea or nay from Luckies4me..........., but she didn't arrive.

And yes.......dear Lut! Do all of you recall that Lut is the reason we have the BBQ at all? Three years ago she was going to visit Los Angeles and I organized a BBQ in her honor. At the last minute she was ill and her whole trip was canceled. I went ahead with the BBQ for the locals and the rest is history -

Yesterday we had a wonderful long conversation with the mayor, Karen - and WE TOLD HER EVERYTHING! If some of you get banned
:D :D :D :D :D - sorry about that!!!!:D :D :D

I am going to tease Sara here (Edwina's Secretary) because she did arrive with these lovely bottles of wine...........a beautiful blue bottle - and obviously some red wines. The next thing I knew Sara is pouring wine for everyone............so if I haven't properly thanked you - I will by private message..............I have already thanked Johanna for her exquisite box of goodies.....YUM! There are many other thanks you's in the works!

Today - Monday - Richard is cooking dinner for us........us being Kelly, Staci, Tonya, Slick, Laurie and myself.

I have laughed and laughed because not only have I not provided a meal (except for the BBQ) - my guests have cooked all of the meals.

Laurie - Thursday night made to die for crab cakes with fresh lump crabmeat brought by Laurie from Maryland!

Friday - Slick made a chili that has the most exotic ingredients
(13 spices) and it is out of this world. One or two containers are in my freezer.

Saturday - BBQ
Sunday - Slick made omelets for all of us and we munched on leftover fruit and potatos.
Sunday night - leftovers!

Monday - Richard is cooking a fabulous Mexican meal.

We have talked about a Pet Talk cookbook on Pet Talk before.........well all of you will want the above recipes for sure!

More later......................

The party was even better than I could have imagined.:D :D It truely was a non-cyber version of Thursday's.

There was a big bowl of cherries for Mario - and Richard tended bar.

As I mentioned (after a few slushies) to some people, I don't normally fare well at parties. I'm normally very shy around people that I haven't met. But PT is truely a community - and I'm so pleased that I was able to go.

Thank-you Gini and Laurie and Slick and Richard - it was fantastic. Halfway through the day my husband, Byron commented "oh-oh - looks like we'll be back next year";)

BUUTTT showing some good ol' hospitality Kelly, Tonya, Laura and Alexa and I took water out to the one watching the truck. And that was a whole nother story - he was quite chatty. Originally from St. Louis, has 2 cats, was in the ARMY for 10 years, and on the LAPD for 6 years. ***swwooooooons*** and he told me I had pretty eyes.
I even called Phred and as soon as he said "HELLO" I said

I have a huge list of THANK YOU'S, SHOUT OUTS AND INSANELY FUNNY STORIES for this thread..sooo, if I saw you doing something funny, you said something funny or I took a moment to laugh with you..........

Pet Talk is gonna hear about it!!!

Oh,
Before I forget......Randi?

We all speak the language of pets.....That is always understood.

And Killearn Kitties,

You poor thing...I think we embarrassed her the whole day...

She was either sunburnt or she had the reddest cheeks on the planet.

And she was very gracious and we appreciated that!

And before I forget.....thanks to Aaron, Wolflady's husband.

He helped me pick up the back yard before he left......and because he is TALLER THAN I AM....I had someone to look up to!

I only saw one, but boy what a lover boy that one was! He was closed in the bedroom for most of the day because he tends to get out and then get into scraps - which he was still recovering from (or was it Gini that was still recovering?) so I carefully went into the bedroom and we had a nice skritchie fest under Gini's bed. :D He was soooo sweet, and was purring the entire time, even though I so rudely interrupted his nap.

Then later when Tracey presented Gini with the beds, Rascal got to come out and test them right away. He immediately started making biscuits and purring! He got to stay out for a bit to drown in attention, but then it was back to the bedroom for his own safety.

I understand the other two were around, but I never saw them. :( Although I can't blame them.....I'm not surprised the whole neighborhood didn't hide from us! :D :D

Re - Gini's kitties - I actually did see the second one - but she was rather shy and wouldn't let me near her.

My only regret over the whole thing is that the day flew by too fast. -poof- - like Cinderella's ball, it was over.

Mary - I'm so glad you made it back to work, you certainly win the award for most harrowing journey trying to get to the party.

Ok, so I was having too much fun to get too many good pics - what can I say? Sorry. Here are the few good ones I got, in no particular order since my picture program is screwing up on me and putting things in all sorts of weird orders.

It says "Laguna Niguel - alot closer if the men would listen!" Just a slight reference to the fact that we made a slight detour because Don didn't take the exit Sara told him to.

Stace is leaving tomorrow at 9:35 a.m. its going to be a sad trip to the airport and I'm not leaving till she's safely in the air. :( I'm going to miss that girl!! :(

From there, I'm going to Gini's to be with Tonya and my new adoptive mom, Gini. More tears will be shed when we have to see her leave in a jet plane. :( :(

Laurie is leaving for San Diego on the same train Slick will be on to go visit Sara...Slick is coming back tomorrow evening so Gini can take her to the airport on Wednesday.

Wednesday, Gini, Richard and I will be on our own and back to the real world.

I'm not going to post any pictures until tomorrow night because I want it to last longer. Tomorrow will suck, I'll be saying goodbye to two of the bestest friends I've ever had. :( :( :(

<pout, pout> I'm already home and back to the daily grind. :( <sniff, sniff>

The good news is Karen is supposed to be visiting us tonight! She flew from LA to Chicago Sunday night to do some touring of the Windy City, and is supposed to be flying back to Scotland tomorrow - Wednesday. So she will make her way to my work this afternoon, then we will head home to meet P & CJ then off for some din din. At least I get a little bit of an extension of our trip.....

I think it's GREAT that Slick will be joining Laurie on the train! We saw that train quite a few times and it's the perfect idea for her to be able to get down and meet the E's. I was totally amazed at the distance between Sara and Gini. Even though they're both in the LA area, it's quite a trip! However....has anyone warned the train staff....? ;) :D

Oh, and I also know that Randi has taken a ton of pictures but is having trouble getting a photo editor installed on Sara's computer, so we'll have to wait until she gets home to see her pics. :( She is leaving Wednesday also, which she is not looking forward to.

MORE "SHOUT OUTS"!!!

Thanks to Barbara, Koxka and Randi for sending our palates on a European Spirit Tour

Thanks to Sara for being a waitress. I laughed and appreciated her buzzing around with a stack of plastic cups under her arm, making sure everyone got a taste.

Sara,
Did anyone give you a tip at least?:(

Thanks to Don and Terry, the official cooks of the 3rd annual BBQ!
I looked over at the both of them while they cooked and Don was holding court...Tongs and a drink in hand....

T&P,
It was nice to meet you and Terry. I am glad you had fun and hope to see you both again, real soon...

Debbie,
I have to tell you this...

I could see that you were having a blast. The last time I saw such wide-eyed wonder in a human being, I was watching a kid in a toy store. Yep, you didn't want to miss a moment...

Terry is a great guy-Before you left he shook my hand and gave me a hug like I was a long lost brother...

Catland and her husband..

Julie,
You are such a liar.

You don't do parties??? Yeah sure,......;) You are a hoot!!!!

When the both of them walked thru Gini's front door, Byron's eyes got huge.....ANOTHER DUDE TO TALK TO.....IT"S NOT A WOMAN/CAT thing........Little did he know....

There are two funny stories about CatLand and Hubby.....

We said our goodbyes after the party, they drive off and a few minutes later ....Here come their car again.........

Let this be a warning to everyone.
When you get street directions to a destination you can get back from where you came from by just turning the directions upside down.;) :o :D

I have more stories and will get to one and all of you.......

These are in no order of importance, they are just random and are popping into my mind as I review the past week.....

P.S.
To the girls....I left my gifts at Gini's house-I did remember them as I drove away........Lindsey's picture was of no use without them. :o :D

Yea - easy for you to say. Try being the navigator (my job) after an entire afternoon and evening of Richard's slushies, Slick's famous Baileys, Randi's breakfast aperitif, and (someone's - sorry I don't remember who's) champagne.

After all that, reading a map isn't all that easy.

I am pretty sure she's not talking about an accident. I assumed she was talking about a dragon sticker or something :)

lolololol,

Here's story number two.......

I was sitting with Catland's husband, Byron in the back yard facing Gini's house.

From that point you can see into the windows...

I see two faces. Two faces become three....

those faces are intently looking down into the sink, which sits under that window...

A piece of fabric get held up in front of those faces and then is dropped down...more staring, then the fabric goes up again..is dropped and another face appears.....the fabric goes up and there is one less face in the window.......the fabric goes up again, down again, the faces change places but are still staring down...the fabric goes up again and then Byron leans over and says.....

"THOSE ARE MY WIFE'S PANTS..."

We were watching Gini, Sara, Randi and Julie trying to get red wine out of the seat of poor Julie's pants.

------------------------------

We found out later that there was a red wine spillage and everyone came to Julie's rescue..when it first happened Gini is trying to blot up the wine, from the pants with Julie still in them..

The funniest part of this whole story is Gini is laughing later on and says,

"Here I am wiping Julie's rear end and I have just met her...."

What is a Pet Talker???

Someone who will help get your rear end cleaned up, even if you
just met them.

I hope you don't mind but I borrowed this for my desk top for a while. We are going to have temps in the 100s with heat index of 110 or higher for at least the next week. I want to look at something to keep me cool!!!!

Gini, I know you are ready to relax a bit. Bless your heart! But what fun memories you created and it sounds as if you had terrific help. Life is going to be dull for the next 11 months, isn't it, compared to this past week? I hope that we can liven it up a bit more for you and add to the masses next July.

Zoe (Vermontcat) is coming to see me tomorrow for the day. We will have a "mini" Pet Talk meeting, right here in SC, but I think both of us wish we could have seen all of you!

Two of "Gini's Kids" are winging their way Homeward Bound ...

And we're starting a repeat of the Westward Journey ...

Staci headed towards ATLANTA - and actually GOT There this time!
She *hopped* into Salt Lake; then on to Atlanta.
And sent a message to Kelly that there was going to be a TWO Hour
DELAY due to "weather" in Atlanta.
She is headed to Ohio on DELTA Flight #269.
Last ETA was for arrival at 2:00 AM in Ohio.
More Pretzils, Staci??

Miz Zippy got off to a "slow start" :( from LAX ~

SOUTHWEST Flight # 1664 (Lax to Las Vegas)
took off 30 minutes late.

Zippy has a layover in Las Vegas till
SOUTHWEST Flight # 1128 leaves at 7:30 -
arriving in Midland/Odessa at 11:35 PM.
"New Mexico Mom" is going to meet her for the "taxi ride" over to Hobbs.
The "taxi ride" will take another hour & 15 minutes.

And that's the *PLAN* ...
Tyme Will Tell how close the Plan is to Reality. :p

-------------------------
10:00 PM UPPIE-Date from ATLANTA ...

"Two Hour Delay is stretching into FOUR ...

"Rainin like Heck" - and DELTA 269 is due to depart
"about" 11:30 to 11:45 - "assuming" the Plane gets to Atlanta -
it's in I-Forget-Where right now.

IF she departs on time, she'll get in to Dayton about 12:30.
Her Parents are already AT the Dayton airport. :(

Per Staci's Request -
The Three Prayer Pups and the Purrayer KAT are gathered in a
Prayer Circle - Krossin Pawz & Klawz. ;)

This is all starting to sound "familiar".

Monday we awoke and got beautiful...then had Laura and Alexa come over for breakfast. Tonya and Staci refused ALL breakfasts I offered, so I made Laura and Alexa some! ;)

After that, we headed to Gini's to chat and drop off Tonya's suitcase...and then headed to a special store. I'll post a picture of the enterance, but that'll be it. ;)

When we got back, we ate a FABULOUS authentic dinner that Slick and Richard prepared. It was BY FAR THE BEST Mexican food I've EVER had!! Carnitas, Spanish Rice & Refried Beans - all made from scratch!! It was WONDERFUL!! Thank you so much!!!

After that, we did an experiment: "What happens when you microwave a Peep?"

1) Put Peep on a plastic plate and place in microwave for 30 seconds:

OK....I'm finally done!!

This was, by far the BEST PT BBQ ever!! Thank you SO MUCH to Gini, Slick, Richard and Laurie for everything! Thank you to everyone that I met and/or saw again this year.

Karen (Killearn Kitties)...I don't have any good pictures of you and I'm so sorry!! I SO enjoyed talking to you and hearing that gorgeous accent of yours. :) I hope you had fun and that you'll return next year. I'd LOVE to talk to you some more.

Arrival #2: Tonya just arrived at Midland/Odessa airport where her mom was awaiting her. She'll grab her luggage and then be on their way home to New Mexico.

Partial Arrival #3: Staci left Atlanta almost an hour ago. She'll be in Ohio a little under an hour. I'll update when she does actually arrive.

I'm SO sad this is all over. :( I had SOOOOO much fun...I've never missed anyone like I miss my PT pals...I cried for most of the day, but I'll NEVER forget these past 5 days, they've been the best of my life thus far.

Hugs, Kelly :)

If you don't scrapbook, you should. You could have a BBQ book. I think you would have tons of fun making it and reliving all the fun!

I have landed in Wyandot County Ohio.

My luggage hasn't been so lucky yet.
It has been located. It just hasn't been located HERE!
ggrrr

When I asked Phred to send a purrayer up for me I think I forgot to mention my suitcase also!

What a weekend.
I cried most of the time at Burbank Airport.
Course I just about cried when I finally landed in Ohio b/c it had been such a long day. But several other passengers had me beat spending time in Atlanta.
The honeymoon is over -
tomorrow is back to work for me.

RICHARD

The planning began in late December.
For some days in July, some fun to remember.
Seven months of plotting, planning and thinking
For a special afternoon of feasting and some drinking-
--------------------------------

Gini's house is now very quiet
She's recovering from a seven day riot.
The last of the guests are on their way home.
Rascal, Emma and Annie are now alone..

In the house of Orange the walls stiill hold laughter
The smiles and stories will last long after-
The luggage and photos are put away,
But all of us will always share in that day...

One day where we all gathered, gathered as one
And took the time to have a little fun.
So the next time you stare into the west.
Take a minute to remember that you were a guest.

In person or cyber, that's not the point...
We all hung out, at Gini's joint.
Another wonderful day, It went by too fast.
But in our memories, that day, will surely last.

As time passes by and thing get you down
Your anxiety high, you face in a frown.
Remember the fun, the laughs and the tears
And start planning that trip, so you can be here next year.

:D

--------------------------------------

Tomorrow I'll have the pictures of the 'Mileage pole"..

------------------------------------------
Gini told me that the BBQ will offically be over when everyone gets safely home.

God?

Please hold everyone in your hands until they walk thru their front doors.

RICHARD

I guess I am a real fool....

Last year Gini ad I were cleaning up the last of the BBQ stuff.

There is a church near by and the hourly bells began to ring...I laughed and looked at Gini and said....It feels like school and now that the bell has rung, it (the BBQ) must be over....

Today as I was placing the chairs and tables into the back of my truck I told Gini that the bells would signal the end of this year's BBQ.

Gini went inside to do something and as I stood there the church bells began to ring......At that moment a huge Monarch butterfly
flew into the yard and made two huge circles of the area where all of us were sitting.....I stood there and listened to the chiming stop.....the butterfly finished the second lap of the yard and just as it flew out of my sight, the howl of a fire truck, in the distance, picked up the salute to the 3rd Annual CA BBQ.....

Serendipity?
Chance?
Coincidence?

I don't know!

 ;) :D

I just had a phone call - Slick made it safely home to Canada! (thank you God!)

Yes, Richard is right, I did say that..........I won't be able to fully enjoy the memories of the BBQ until everyone is back home safe with their individual critters. Staci, assuming you have "critters" in your suitcase:D I know you will be reunited with them soon.

Richard told me about the church bells, the butterfly and the fire engine sirens.........I was in the house when this happened. So, I believe it was his own private sign - to mark the closing of an event I loved hosting for everyone.

There are a few stray paper napkins on the patio table and chairs are askew - just like everyone got up suddenly and came into the house.............yes, I think I can hear them laughing in the kitchen.

It is going to be a very lonely few next days..............

Alexa, Uabassoon's better half [;) ] here:

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the wonderful time I had at the picnic. Although Laura persuaded me to come only by bribing me with Disneyland, I had such a wonderful time at the bbq and was so thrilled to meet so many wonderful and kind people. And although I was expecting an event as exciting as the one Byron expected (full of slide shows), I was happily entertained and before I knew it, it was time to go home.

Anyway, I especially wanted to thank Gini and her crew (Richard, Laurie, Slick, etc) for opening of her home and provinding me with more than one free meal. :D

Yep, goosebumps here too, Richard.

Slick, glad you're home safe and sound. Hope Max and Speckles aren't giving you the cold shoulder. ;)

GREAT pictures Kelly! I knew somebody would take way better ones than I had.

Staci and others who were stuck with goofy flights. I've only got one thing to say - FLY DIRECT! ;) Ok, ok, so I know that's not entirely possible for everyone, but it sure makes things a lot easier and less stressful when you don't have to worry about connecting flights and such. To me it's worth a little bit more money.

Hope Randi's flight went ok. We were having some pretty bad thunderstorms in Chicago yesterday, so I hope she wasn't delayed.....again....

What happened with the tatoo Staci? Was that done at the "naw-tee" shop that Kelly posted a picture of? ;)

Connie, sorry. I knew I knew your name but I couldn't remember it for the life of me when I was posting. Sad thing is the mind is the first to go.... You are more than welcome to use that beach scene on your computer. Had I known you were such a beach lover, I could have taken tons of pictures for you. Hmmm....gives me an excuse to go back.....;)

Alexa, I know we didn't get much of a chance to talk, but it was great meeting you and Laura. I find it interesting that you had the typical "spousal view" of what this BBQ was going to be, and you were right along with the other spouses when you were pleasantly surprised by the good time you had. :) ;)

You know, Gini, I have a program that can easily make a slide show out of pictures. We could have everyone submit photos to me and I could make one big slideshow that loops continuously while the BBQ is going on. I could make them show up in random order so we'd all have to sit glued to the screen so we'd be sure to be there when our precious critter showed up. Hmmm....then we could rent a big screen TV and have the computer hooked up to it so we all wouldn't have to crowd around a small computer screen....we could arrange chairs around the TV like a theater......then we could rent one of those little popcorn machines on wheels so we could serve popcorn....which of course would make us all drink more slushies.....

;) :D

I just thought of something.....

There is a saying and I THINK it came from a TV show- It really fit
this year's BBQ and should be adopted as the Ofiicial Pet Talk Motto..

More fun than humans should be allowed to have.

--------------------------------------------------

More shout outs???

Thanks to every who called and everyone who used THEIR cell phones to connect us across the miles.

I envision PT gatherings as giant fairs one day...

Food, entertainment, an area for phone calls, photo booths
rides and petting zoos.

LOLOLOLOL,

I forgot this until I read Zippy's post in the "What is a Pet Talker" thread..

I think that Gini's kitchen truly let out a sigh of relief when we all left.

Slick made some chili and gave me a taste....that taste was followed by a little bowl to savor her recipe......

I ate a spoonful, then another and hit the bottom of the dish...

I used the spoon to make a circuit of the bottom of the bowl and out comes a pink pinkie finger.

Yep,

There was a finger in my chili!!

Of course, I can't sue Gini.....And I don't know Canadian law...

So I gave Slick the finger.....

Fister is due in a few moments and I know she's looking very much forward to getting him back home! :)

And as for me... I'm just glad to have my friend back and I'm really looking forward to hear some more about everything. Although I must confess that I too have been lurking at the BBQ thread...! Thanks for sharing all those great pictures! I too did some purr-ing over the ones with the firebrigade.... mm!:D :D

Love,
Sus

I believe that leaves Laurie (who is still in San Diego) and Staci's luggage...............................

:D

The only thing that makes it worthwhile getting back home after a vacation is seeing your furry friends again who are either thrilled to see you - or are going to ignore you for a few days as punishment!

I am so happy everyone is getting back home safely.

After we dropped off Slick at the airport, Richard and I were talking of course, about the BBQ.

I mentioned that God must love our BBQ - just like the Rosebowl Parade - it is always a beautiful day - and people go back home feeling happy.

Today promises to be in the 100's here............and I have to work today.

Back home safe and sound!! No delays on the way home. I was concerned when I got to O'Hare and saw four screens full of delayed flights, due to the unexpected thunderstorms (would the flights still have been delayed if the storms had been expected???). Thankfully mine was fine.

Embarrassingly, I have virtually no pictures of the BBQ to post! I am going to have to save other people's photos and pretend they are mine. ;) I seem to have a camera full of cat pictures. :o Eddie on his supervising balcony, HH the Lady Edwina modelling her collection, Eddie looking worried (just his normal look).

I managed to pat Rascal before he dived under the bed. As far as three orange cats go, all I can say is that I only saw one. At one point a tail sauntered through the room, but you never see more than one orange cat at a time ...... suspicious.

I was in Chicago for three days after the BBQ and I got to meet Peanut and Cracker Jack while I was there. Again, I have heaps of pictures of them, but none of Debbie and Terry. :o

I had a fantastic time. Great food (are you still eating it, Gini?), wonderful people, and what can I say about the slushies? The time passed way too quickly. The only problem was the lack of a slide show ... The plans for next year sound good.

I was so busy talking that I didn't eat or drink nearly enough. And do you know what????!!! I didn't have one of Slick's Baileys! That was the only reason I went! :D Oh well, maybe some other time.

Thank you so much everybody!!

I am so jealous! When is next year's BBQ? I want to start saving for the trip. It sounds like the best time. And to get to meet all of you would just be fabulous.

KAK,
Again you are a trouble maker...that is not catnip in those gifts!

Amberlee,
You and KAK came in together so you are to blame also......Edward freaked out with that stuff. Sorry Richard but I used some of the catnip that AmberLee had given me and it smelled like very potent stuff. I'm glad that Eddie's been enjoying it.:)

I'm so glad to hear that everyone has arrived back home safely. It was so good to see everyone again and meet all of the new people too.:) Maybe next year we should have the BBQ last for 2 days instead of one since the time really does pass too quickly.;)

Kelly, thanks for posting all of your wonderful pictures. I like them all except for the ones with me in them. I hate posing for pictures.;) I'm looking forward to seeing some more pictures so please hurry up and post them everyone.:)

How unfair, I really need to learn to read more.
I was in California, on a road trip and was right nearby. x.x; I wish I would have known.

I know that's a problem for some, soo.....next time you drive to Chicago then fly out with me. At the rate you were going, driving 6 hours each way probably would have saved you plenty of time.....and hassle.....and then we can have a great time on the plane too! ;)

SO glad to hear Randi & Karen arrived safely. Good question Karen, and really, how unexpected were the thunderstorms? The weathermen had been predicting them, so doesn't that mean they were expected?

Tracey, P & CJ went crazy over those little catnip pouches too! CJ was so funny! I think he was trying to rub his face on it, but it kept sliding, so he was pushing it around the bedroom with his face to the floor and his butt in the air! :D Whatever is in there, me thinks it's a close rival to the Canadian catnip!

my dad was going to drive to Atlanta and get me but my mom vetoed that!
So they sat in the parking lot for 6 hours waiting on me!

still no luggage - supposed to be here b/n 9am and 9pm today....

humph!
This irks me - unless they have a firefighter come to my rescue and deliver it!!
