Help! Dogs don't mix with turtle!?!

A friend has two miniature poodles which live in the same yard as a turtle (desert tortoise perhaps?). The problem is: the dogs eat the turtle's um, er, poo. Then the dogs get sick, barfing and diarrhea. The owners try to clean up after the turtle, but don't always find all the deposits.

Any ideas what is causing this? Is there something dangerous to the dogs? Thanks for any help!

I wonder if there is something that could be put in the turtle's food to make it's waste taste really bad (as if it doesn't taste bad already :eek http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif. I know they make a product like that for dogs, but turtles??? Wish I knew more how to help. Good luck.

You know, those dog lovers are always saying how smart their dogs are. This makes me think otherwise. Dogs'll eat anything.
