My sweet hamster Hannah passed away last night. I found her this morning. She came from an abusive home where she was bred so that her litters could be fed to reptiles. My daughter "kidnapped" her one day with two other hamsters. She was full of cuts and very thin when I got her. I found a home for one of the other hamsters, but one did not make it.
I kept Hannah and she delivered a litter of 10 pups a week later. I found homes for some of her babies, but most had to be donated to a pet shop. Since then I pampered her as best as I could. She was always very gentle with me and I enjoyed our time together. The past few weeks I could tell she was not herself. I kept her as comfortable as possible.
I'll miss her. She was a tough old hamster, and I admired her strength and stamina. I enjoyed caring for her. Play hard at the bridge, Hannah, you will be missed.
