I am a cat & dog person, but I always enjoy checking the "Pet" of the Day as well. I love reading about people who have birds that can "talk" and about what their birds are able to say. Can anyone give a little explanation as to how some birds are able to say human words and phrases? http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I think it's called The Bird Exchange it's in Rockville Maryland on Rockville Pike. The lady there has written several books about how they are able to do this and why they are so willing to learn. I bought a few birds there but never was able to have any luck with them. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/frown.gif But she gladly took them back and gave them nice home! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif And yes in time they did learn to talk! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/rolleyes.gif
She's really friendly qnd helpful! I lived in the area for over 6 years and learned a lot from her about them and found out I wasn't a bird person after all.

Well I have a budgie. Some budgies learn to talk, others don't. Some ppl say male budgies are more likely to learn, so I wanted a boy. I'm not even sure whether mine is a male or female, b/c its just a baby so it's beak hasn't totally changed colour yet. But it looks like it starting to be blue, so right now I'm assuming its a boy. Even so, I don't think this budgie will learn to talk...I don't care though...I'll love him 4eva & eva!
