I'm REALLY scared!! I was standing with Baybi, (my cockatiel) on my shoulder and I didn't notice that I was standing next to a pointsettia. I looked over at Baybi on my shoulder and she's chewing on a piece of pointsettia leaf!!! I look at the plant next to me and there's a bite mark in it, and some of the sap is coming out of the leaf!!! Someone help, I know it's poisonous to birds!!!! what should I do??? I'm really worried. Thanks!!! :(

OH NO!!!

I really hope she didn't swallow any of that. :( You need to contact a vet IMMEDIATELY!! Those plants are incredibly poisonous for birds. Its best not to bring such plants in the house 'at all' when you have pet birds, as they LOVE to nibble on plants and DO get to them if you have them around.

Hopefully baby will be alright, but contact a vet immediately! In the meantime, give her a lot of water...(make her drink it....I would put some in a dropper and carefully drop it into her mouth). That would help dilute the poison if she truely ingested some.

Kisses to sweet Baby. I hope she'll be alright. :(

Put water on your finger, hold her, and gently drip it into her mouth. Or use a spoon.

Call one of these Southern California avian vets. Hopefully they can tell you what to do.

okay, I got ahold of our local vet, and she said to check for signs of lethargy, diharreah, and not eating. she said to try to give her peanut butter because it will help get rid of the poison.. she DID eat some peanut butter. She's also moving around a lot more now, and she's not shivering anymore, but she's not eating right now, as she usually does right after I put her in her cage. the vet said that if we see signs to make an appointment, but hopefully it'll be okay..*fingers crossed*!

Ugh. :( Right now she is having diharreah (sp.?), lethargy, and DOES NOT want to drink (I made her drink a little, though) at least she's eating. These are all symptoms that the vet told me last night that might mean trouble. :( do you think that the poison might be kicking in?? :(:( help! :(
