Today's cat of the day (Bit, aged 17) got me wondering how old a cat can get. This interesting link shows the oldest cat on record (now deceased) named Granpa Rex...He was over 34 years old.

Any other interesting stories out there about long-lived felines???

My gosh what a long life. Specks is 17 and I'm really hoping to have her for another two years.

My uncle has a 22 yar old cat:) I know this is lind of off topic but I was wondering, do cats get grey fur as they get older? I don't think my uncles cat is grey at all and he's really old.

My RB Siyee (Siamese mix) did get grey as she aged. I think she was close to 20 when she finally went to the RB. My Goldie was 15. I miss them both!

I bet there's a LOT of cats older than the one in the Guiness Book - maybe people just don't report them in. Don't you get a prize for being in the book, though? I wonder.

Thanks so much everyone for all this interesting info about aging in cats. I especially appreciated the link to messybeast.com and the chart showing a side by side comparison of cat and human lifespans.

Here is a picture of what I hope will keep my cat going a long, long time:
