When I first saw Sy's photo, I couldn't believe it! The sweet little boy looks exactly like our Petey who lived a remarkable 9 yrs! He too had an extensive vocabulary and was only in his cage to sleep or if we went out! He also loved the shower and had near death experiences, as he was very curious and very brave. I know people must say "it's just a parakeet" but little do they know how clever and loving they are with lots attention and patience!! Here's a peck on your little beak, a rub behind the ears and on the top of your head! You are a deserving Pet of the Day!

I haven't had a parakeet since childhood, and Sy brought back so many happy memories of my beautiful Bobby. But, Bobby never spoke like Sy! How special that must be. I didn't even know that parakeets "spoke" human!!! And what a brave little bird you are as well! Please, stay safe and out of harms way. Showers are great fun, but stay out of the toilet bowl!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif Congratulations beautiful blue Sy. This is your day to soar!!! You are a very lovely, very special Pet of the Day!

Congratulations. Sy really deserves to be Pet of the Day. What a clever, loving little bird. He looks like what we call a budgerigar in Australia. The budgerigar is a native Australian bird that has become the most popular cage bird in the world. The word means 'good food' in the Aboriginal language. In other countries, the budgie (for short) is known as a parakeet. A good site about budgies is www.geocities.com/RainForest/3298 (http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/3298)
I wonder if Sy is a budgie, also known as a parakeet.
