I could! I have small sized hemp that I could use. It wouldn't have a snap though, since I only have large size snaps. I guess it'd look kind of like a person's hemp necklace.

And no, they don't hurt. They're pretty soft actually. If you're worried though, and your dog's a big puller, you might want to stay away from the collar designs with a twist in them. :)

Those are cool! Where did you learn to make them? Is there something like that online? a friend of mine use to make hemp bracelets and they looked fun, this looks fun too :)

My mom taught me the basic weaves, and I got a book to learn more advanced ones (which I don't use on dog collars, because they have loops and holes and stuff that I'm afraid might get caught on something!)

Hmm, I can't seem to find any patterns online, but I know there's got to be some. Sorry!
