Well guys, I FINALLY DID IT!!!

We went & adopted a little brother for Josie. :D His name is Brodie. He's about 6 weeks old. He's such a lover already! He's already attached himself to both me and hubby!!!

We took him straight to the vet - tested negative for FIP & FIV/FELV. Also got a flea treatment & dewormed.

Poor baby has already had a rough life. He has a seriously crooked tail. The shelter & vet seem to think it was broken. Doesn't hurt him to touch though . . . so I guess it has healed crooked . . . and it's really short, LOL.

OK . . . I'll quit talking now, LOL . . . HERE HE IS!

I'll post more later. He's such a bouncing little thing, I can't get him to be still for a pic!

He is tiny, less than a pound!

We got him at the Boyd County Animal Control Shelter.

He is such a sweet baby! He constantly wants to be right under your chin! And he has purred non stop since we got him home! He's even already given me about five headbumpies! I'm excited about that because I don't think I've ever had a head bumpie! (Josie doesn't do head bumpies, LOL) He is a sweet little boy!

As I understand it, there is no effective test for FIP.

Only upon drawing fluid from a cat with active disease (wet form) or upon necropsy (dry form) can the presence of FIP be confirmed.
They can test for the carriers (corona viruses) of FIP, doesn't mean the cat will develop FIP (under 5% chance)
Many cats carry many corona viruses.
Even if a cat tests NEG for FIP, it can mutate and turn into FIP at a later time.
The very young and very old cats are most often effected by this terrible disease, as we well know around here. We've lost too many.

:(

Just don't want you to get any false confidence built up in having Brodie tested.

We pray that he, and all kitties are free of this.

Congratulations on your new baby.
