I've been listening to music a lot lately and I just thought this would make an interesting poll. Do you have a favorite era of music? For me it's the 80s. I can listen to music from that era all day and really enjoy the majority of it, so much of it makes me feel really good :)

Oh and I made it so you can pick multiple choices, if you just can't decide between a couple :)

I would definatly have to say present day. I don't enjoy older music and I like the rap stuff. Mostly if music isn't sooo old and it has words, I like it.:p

I chose 70s since 70s classic rock is my favorite. Although I enjoy country and I like 40s swing and things like that, so, I guess I'm pretty versatile. I can handle anything but rap.

mugsy, I actually love a wide variety of music myself, I can enjoy anything from classical to big band to ballads to present day.. My tastes have probably mellowed overall since my college days. I guess overall I really love 70s and 80s pop. Give me a bit of Billy Joel, Foreigner, or Boston any day :D

Everything from classical music, Gregorian chants from centuries ago, a capella voice, solo instrumentals, roock, jazz, swing, just about every era of music has something I love!

Oh I love those too, Come Sail Away by Styx is one of my favorites. Queen brings back so many memories from high school :D.

Karen, I should have put an option for "All" in there too now that I think about it. I love music from all eras too. I guess I picked what I'm most often in the mood for :). I have a Baroque Masterpieces cd set that I just love too, nothing is more peaceful and relaxing to me. Music augments my moods so powerfully!

I can't chose just one.

I have a very open-mind when it comes to music.

Rap, Rock, Country [however slim liking], Reggae, R & B, etc, etc..

It goes from Tom Petty, to Tupac, to Bob Segar, to Nelly, to Tim McGraw, to Usher, to Ashlee Simpson, to My Chemical Romance...

I don't like a lot of what people like to call Rap.. such as Chingy, Lil Flip, and a lot of the newer people. That is NOT rap.
Rap/Hip Hop would be Tupac, Biggie, Eazy E, Run DMC, (older) LL Cool J, Too Short, etc.

I also don't like a lot of the newer 'rock' groups... however, the older ones are great.

A lot of the older groups who are trying to "modernize" their sound are going far, far down hill though, and I no longer like them as much as I used to.

me too. I like most everything except rap. I don't mind a song if it has one little rap part in it, but rap as a whole I don't care for.

I love 80's, 90's, as well as present day music. :)

Present day - I pretty much only listen to stuff that has guitar... anything from classic/oldies rock to alternative/metal... However, I also listen to techno/dance, and I LOVE some 80's and 90's songs! :D

I like music from the 60's and 70's best (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin...). I also like 80's music too, I don't like much newer music though.

'60s, '70s and '80s, although most of the music I like from the '80s is from bands who hung around for 10-20 years.

You know it does seem like in the past bands stayed together longer. A lot of the bands I was listening to in the 80s had been putting out hits in the 70s too. Now it seems like actual band groups are less common and the focus is often on one person because voices and band music can easily be reproduced electronically. My perception may be off because I often stay to listening to older stuff rather than new, I am mostly going off of what I have seen on music shows on TV or music awards shows. It seems like a lot of the new bands I heard in the 90s disappeared by 2000. But again I could be wrong as around 2000, I stopped listening to newer stuff as much.

This poll has been very interesting to me :)

I love something from all the era's, but I say 90's is my favorite, especially the rap and hip hop from then. But also, alot of the rock like Metallica, Greenday, etc...

That would be other ;). I figured the majority would fall in the options I put and Other would be anything before the 50s :) I absolutely love some of the 18th and 19th century music and even before, but probably listen to 70s to 80s 60-70% of the time.

Technically my era would be late 70s/early 80s and I do love a lot of music from then, but afraid I gotta go with the brillance and diversity of the 60s. From Folk, to Beach Music, to Motown, to Psychedlic Rock. I love it all. Some of my all time faves are from that era. The Mamas and the Papas, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Simon and Garfunkel, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills and Nash, The Doors, Barbra Streisand, Patsy Cline, Bob Dylan, The Beach Boys, The Supremes, The Temptations, and the list goes on and on.

I love the 'oldies'... anything from the 50s, 60s, 70s... jazz and swing from the 20s and 30s.... i'm not much for any of the present day stuff. It all tends to sound the same to me, and there is very little real talent out there. I hate rap, and can only take techno in small doses. I love classical music too. Having sung Handel's Messiah, Handel's Coronation Anthems, Carmina Burana, Mozart's requiem and others, i was able to develop an appreciate for the 'old masters' hehe :D
