Especially for kimlovescats! Proof I am not just a dog person. In fact I had cats before I had any dogs!

My first furkid and the one I stole my screen name from, Glacier. He's been very understanding about all the additions since his arrival. Glacier is six now. I hauled him out from under a friend's deck when he was six weeks old. He's been with me ever since. He's a well travelled kitty having made the move from Alberta to the Yukon with me.

And then came Pete. I used to work with kids in foster care. Pete was born to a barn cat at one of the foster homes. Momma-cat vanished when he was three weeks old. Pete was the last survivor of his litter. I hand raised him with some help from Glacier. Pete still thinks Glacier is his momma! He nurses on Glacier's paws. Pete is also well travelled. He's the cat I had to send to Saskatchwan for PU surgery.

This little thing is Dominique. She was found wandering all alone in downtown Whitehorse at about 5 weeks old by a girl I worked with. She couldn't keep her so I said I'd take her and find her a home. Guess where that home was! :p Dominique is the most fearless cat who ever lived. She loves the dogs, nothing phases her. She got her name when as a wee kitten I introduced her to Pete and Glacier. She promptly wacked them both on the nose and strolled through the house like she owned it. She's been queen ever since!

This is Princess Ivy. Ivy came from our local Humane Society. She was born there and adopted as a kitten. She was returned at a year old. The couple broke up and he didn't want her @()#*% cat anymore. Least, that's what he wrote on the surrender form! I adopted her a couple weeks later. She truly is a princess. She cleans her paws for hours every day to avoid contamintion by human germs. She is distant and disdainful of the other cats. She quite clearly sees them as beneath her, but she's very sweet and sleeps every night snuggled against me, under the covers.

More coming....

The fifth kitty addition was the lovely Polly Paws. She was trapped by Animal Control as a nuisance animal. I adopted her the day she was scheduled to be euthanized. She was very sweet in her cage at the pound. Turns out she's actually semi-feral and not all that sweet at all! Unless you are my husband, oh, how she adores her daddy!

Then much to Polly's dismay came Onyx. Onyx was left outside the Humane Society in a box with his littermates. They all got adopted quickly, no one wanted Onyx cuz he's "plain". I adopted him when he was five months old. He's now four and 18 pounds of solid love. Polly still hates him, but he just stays out of her way.

Then Felicia arrived. Felicia is my handicapped girl. I know I've posted about her before. Don't tell her she's handicapped. She doesn't know. I found her last night sleeping on the kitchen cupboards--the ones she is not supposed to be able to jump up on!

And the last arrival, sweet, loving Twicket! He's been here since June 2003. Took me 8 tries but I got me a lapcat!

So you can see I am not just a dog person! I love my kitties too!
:D
PS: all the outdoor pictures are taken from the safety of their kitty enclosure. They are indoor kitties.

I agree with Kim! Shame on you for hiding such glorious looking kitties from us all this time! What's Felicia's particular "handicap" out of curiosity, and because my signature underneath is all my special needs kitties? Can't tell I have a weakness for them now can you? All your cats are so beautiful that we'll be whining for more pictures in no time flat! ;)

Felicia was born without an elbow joint in her right front leg. My vet thinks she was squished in utero and couldn't develop properly. Her left leg isn't quite normal, but is functional. Now that she's grown, she can't use the right leg at all for walking. It's fused at a 90 degree angle and sticks out in front of her. She does use it for batting at the other cats or holding her toys. She kinda hops like a rabbit rather than really walking. My vet was concerned that she may have other congential problems that wouldn't show until she was grown, but she's 2 now and has not developed any other problems.

That's an amazing group you have!

Glacier I love this post! It was wonderful to see such beautiful pictures but the stories along with each one added so much. They are all so special and so are you for caring for each one of them.
You are certainly lucky to be living with so much beauty! With each picture I kept thinking that was my favorite but I decided in the end that each one is so gorgeous and special that I loved them all!!!:D :D :D

Hee heee I had to come back for another peek LOL! I think Dominique's name suits her cute face very well. Pete sounds like such a baby boy still sucking away (on others feet LOL). My herd were street rescues as well. Several have cerebellar hypoplasia, limbs missing, deaf, eyes missing etc. M*A*S*H unit here!
