I really need PT prayers at the moment. My mom had a major surgery (historectimy *sp*) and is in the process of recovering. I had Carpal Tunnel surgery on Thursday and I can't do anything with my right hand. But the major prayer request is for my dad, he is really sick. He has some problem with his back and if he doesn't take his meds. at the right time he can hardly move, he also has a really bad stumach ache and I have NEVER ever seen him sick before, not even with a cold... he has lost 10 lbs. in 5 days, I am really scared, my dad is really active and all I have seen him doing this past week is sleeping, if he sits down within 3 min. he is sleeping.

Please pray for my family, my dad especially

-Thanks Pet Talk!!

Thanks everybody!

I thought my dad looked better today, and everyone was getting ready to go to church and then my mom came into the kitchen and said, "we aren't going" my sister asked why and my mom just said, your dad is sick again. I also asked my dad if we could use his pick-up to move some strawbales and he said yes and that he would help us and then I said we didnt have to do it today and all he said was yes we do, I said, "why" and he said, "because I might not be-able to do it tomorrow." I wish my dad had some hope that he was going to get better, *his* dad got sick the same way that he is and he past away... -prayers for my dad, feel better soon-

Thanks everyone!

My dad is getting a Colonoscopy (sp?) does anyone know what this is, or what it is for?

Toby my baby, here's prayers going out to you and especially your father. I think that is a procedue(sp?) where they check the intestines for blockage. Why is that everyone born on Dec. 12 is going through operations? I'm just getting over knee replacement! And again prayers to you and your family {{{{HUGS}}}}

A colonscopy basically putting a tiny optical cable into your intestine to look for things. This is a normal procedure for all people over the age of 50. David is correct, one of the things they will look for are any blockages in the intestines. Usually they will put your family complete under, so he will be groggy when he first wakes up and probably for a few hours after that. Don't worry about that, it is normal for him to have that kind of reaction. Hopefully this will help him find out what the problem is.

Prayers are coming your way...

I'm so sorry your whole family is having such a difficult time. We'll all be thinking about you here and we're here for you when you need us. Has your dad checked with his doctor to see if he might be taking too much medication? I hope things improve soon.

Thanks everyone!

My dad has gone to the doctor about his stumache aches but they weren't sure what was wrong thats why they wanted all these test done, we all thought it was from all of the medication he was taking for his back... but I guess it wasn't. As far as i know his tests went good. :D

He is still feeling crappy and has no hope for himself in getting better. He even said he was selling his bussiness which he has started doing (he is a landlord and rents out trailers) we have about 28 trailers that we rent out and he has already started selling them, he has done this his whole life and he is giving it up. I wish he had some hope in himself... :(

I'm sorry. I will pray. Your family and you are going through a tough time now. Just keep your chin up, things will get better. Nothing can stay bad for long. Luck seems to come in streaks if you know what I mean. You can go for a year of having bad luck, but the next year you will the lottery! Don't lose hope.

Thanks cookieluver7! I hope you're right!

Last night my dad was getting undressed and he fell over... he claims it was because his leg got caught in his pants leg, I hope so! He has also been mixing my twin sister and I 's names up?!? He has never done this, not once that I can rember... he's been a little "spacie" latley.

Colon cancer can be prevented, that is what colonscopys are for, but anytime you have problems with the stomack, they want to look inside to see if there is any problems to cause it. I have IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) and have had those for years and am due for another. They go in and look at the colon, remove any polups they find and see if there is anything else that needs treating. Seldome are men effected with IBS and it can be a very painful condition.

Colonscopys SAVE LIVES!

You have talked about your father taking medication for his back. That could very well be what is causing the "spaciness" that you have seen over the last little while.

The best thing to do is probably take EVERY pill bottle into with him to see the doctor and go over them. He may need different medications or he maybe taking some that he shouldn't be taking. If possible he should try and get it to see an orthopedic specialist about his back.

Thanks for all your prayers!

My dad has gotten a lot better. His problem is cureable with medication. I am not sure what the diseaseis but it is caused by stress. The doctor said that he can't work as hard as he used to so he is being forced to sell his business. I think selling his business will be better for all of us in the long run. i just hope he doesn't get depressed from not having work to do.

Thanks for all your prayers!!

I am really glad that they found out what your dad's problem is and that it is curable.

They say that your father shouldn't be in this line of work, but that doesn't mean that he can't work. He just needs a different type of job. If you can get him to believe in that maybe he won't get depressed.
