The weather was unbelievable today, for MN to get above 70 on October 29 is a first for me in my 8 years here. I sorta gave myself the afternoon off from work and packed up the dogs for a little hiking trip to Quarry Park and Nature Preserve. I wish I could truly share how beautiful it was, and not a soul out there besides me, the pups and the wild creatures, but the pics will have to do. They don't quite do it justice, but they turned out pretty good. I'll be posting doggy pics later in DG.

First, when I arrived, I saw these signs posted

It was really muddy in some areas due to it raining all day yesterday, so I looked for any tracks that might look like a cougar's but didn't see any.

On to the scenic pictures:

About an hour after we got back, a storm moved in.

Hope you enjoyed :)

I love it when you post pictures! These are terrific as they always are. It looks like you are ahead of us with the leaves turning and falling. Ours are still turning and just beginning to fall. We are due for that 70+ degree weather tomorrow. Thanks for sending it on! Glad you didn't run into that cougar!

Actually I took so many with the furkids that I made a separate post for them in Dog General :D. It is here: http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=62646

Thank you all, it was very peaceful and serene. I was disappointed when I reached the point where I felt worn out and knew it was time to head back. I did buy a year pass this time though, it was only $14, so I plan to go back often, especially in the spring. They use the money to help with upkeep and building. I know they have plans to build a visitor's center in the future and they bought more land to add trails to awhile back as well. I'm very fortunate to have a place like this so close to where I live.

Oh....BEAUTIFUL!!! I miss MN so bad. Fall was really pretty were we lived. :( We lived in the woods and had 40 acres of trees, and the leaves would fall....oh I miss it so. And we would have deer come up to our house and everything! Anyho, its absolutely gorgeous. I LOVE this picture:

Beautiful pictures, Jessica!

Ugh, the weather has been rain, rain, rain, up here, too. :(

This picture reminds me a lot of when we were driving out of St. Cloud.

Oh, it was wonderful here in Wisconsin too! It was 74 degrees and a little overcast. It was heavenly- it smelled so good outside it made me miss summer soo bad!

We have cougars around our cottage (in Black River Falls, southeast of Eau Claire) and when I went hiking on the horse trails near our cottage I found a lot of tracks in the mud- here is a picture I got:

I got pretty excited when I found them, I never thought I would see cougar tracks. The locals said they have seen a large male in the area with a radio collar on- I have yet to see it.
