It seems most people do not have just ONE cat. Soooo how long after the first cat you had did you get your second cat? I haven't ever had any cats until 2-1/2 weeks ago and I'm already looking at a kitty to keep her company........ :) Debbie

Ripley was my first cat ever and I got him in 1992. He was so wild and mean that I didn't think I ever wanted another cat so it was 10 years until he settled down and I decided to get another. I got Jazz in Aug. 2002 then I couldn't stop. I got Scout the next year in July 2003 and now two weeks ago I added Rocky and Rumor.

I got Tito on January 27, 2004 and Sophie on May 8, 2004. So I guess that's 3 months and about 1-2 weeks. Not long! :D

It took me almost two years to get Pouncer. If I could do it again, I'd have gotten two at the same time (or within a few months) because Allen has changed so much since we got Pouncer... he's now a loving and affectionate cat instead of the aloof crank he was! :D

Seriously, two cats are the way to go. Cats are better in pars and they rely on ach other for socialization.

Acting on the advice of cat-loving friends, I got two litter mates:

Perspicacity "Cassy" and Sassafras Root "Sassy" -- they were born 11 Jul 1999 and came to my home 16 Sep 1999.

Sadly, Sassy died suddenly (17 Feb 2001?) and Cassy and I were berift. My parents were looking for a new home for their cat, Olivia. She came to live with us the last week of March in 2001. She let me know  that she enjoyed the change, but wanted a more formal name so she became Lady Olivia d'Flufferuni or "Livvy" in her less formal moments.

Shortly thereafter I found Pet Talk and soon joined...

Trevor (my first cat) came into my life in 1993. Andy arrived in 1996. They adapted to each other almost immediately but then Andy was no threat to Trevor at a whopping one pound! LOL! Andy has always been the more affectionate of the two, however Trevor has gotten much more so since Andy arrived. He has yet to drool with delight when being cuddled, which Andy does, and for that I guess I should be grateful! :p

RB Butterscotch we took him in 5 yrs ago May 30th. 1999 Approx age 1-2 yrs(guessing) He was 6 yrs old (he could of been year older) when he went to Rainbow Bridge this past March 2004.

1 year later....
Thumper (born 3/99 we think) we got her November 2000 (Thanksgiving weekend) 2 yrs old when adopted her. Thumper is 6 yrs old now. :)

4 years later....
Skinny (2003 Sept we took him in to house) est age 1 yr. He is 2 yrs old now. :)

9 months later....
Eleanor (June 4th, 2004) we adopted her. She is born April 2001.
She is 3 yrs old now. :)

Three is a our limit at anyone time financially for food, pet insurance, vet bills.

Actually I had no intentions of even getting a first cat, as I am allergic, and had not owned a cat for over 18 years but well Ash was adopted, I certainly had no intentions of getting a 2nd one, and as fate would have it, one of my son's older work mates, adopted two kittens, and my daughter used to go down and see the kittens.

well to cut a long story short this person did credit card fraud and went to Jail, and hubby and I knew the kittens were being fed, but outside in the cold, off we went down the road to the rescue, I kept Sooti as he was older, and so darn cute and loveable, Sandy as we called him went to a wonderful home, and became Rusty, sadly both are at the RB now, after my devastation at loosing my boy, I found it unbearable, and just had to have another kitty, so that is how Lexie became ours.

We had Ash around 4 years before Sooti came on the scene and Lexie was adopted about 2 mths after his passing, we wil soon have had her 2 yrs.

I think I'm just about the only one on this board with only one cat. :( We've had Josie for almost a year . . . we are hoping to get another soon. She really does need a playmate!
