Oh my!!!!

Yukon Jack is deadly on its own and Jack Daniels is doubly deadly on its own, so this is one DEADLY drink! Absolutely positively NO driving after this one everybody!! Unfortunately the last time I drank Jack Daniels is what taught me that lesson. :( :o

However, I had no idea it was time for the bar to open already - this week is going WAY too fast and I have WAY too much to do before we leave. Sooooo....sounds like I need one of these Pan Galactic thing-a-ma-jiggys. :p Oops, I'm about ready to leave, so can I have it in a to go cup? I promise not to drink it until I get home.....really....I learned my lesson last time. Thanks! :D

Oh, I forgot to mention, Mario behind bars, is that why they call them monkey bars?

Whats real creepy, Debbie is that you don't even taste alchohol!!! My roomate made one for his after shifter and brought it home, I guzzled half and was like Hmmm that was a tasty soda like thingy!

Then I kind of sat down and drooled for a while...

Kinda like 'couch basketball'....

have a few drinks and dribble all over yourself.

Funny story about Yukon Jack.

We'd go to the football game on Sundays and carry a small bottle of YJ in-

medicinal purposes, ya know.

We put the bottle down below the seat and here comes someone down the aisle to leave......They kick the bottle and you hear it go 'clink, clink, clink' a few seats down......

Everyone stops - Glass bottles in a game are VERBOTEN!!!- my brother reaches down to pick up the bottle, someone in our party says, out loud, "How is JACK????"

To the relief of everyone 'Jack' is OK..

When the bottle kicker comes back to their seat, someone from behind us yells out....LOOK OUT FOR JACK THIS TIME!!!!

Those are the most deadly kind of drink available! Especially when they involve Jack and Yukon - whew!

Richard, funny story. Don't mess with Jack! ;) :D

The second time I went to New Orleans I met a friend there. She came from Florida, me from Wisconsin. We met in the afternoon, got settled in the hotel then went for a drink before dinner. Weeeelll....thanks to those durn Hurricanes down there that taste like cherry kool-aid, we never made it to dinner! Needless to say I think the empty stomachs had something to do with the effect they had on us, but jeepers. I had two of them before I had to go to the bathroom. I stood up - and promptly sat right back down again - whoa! Needless to say the next day I was a bit hungover. We went for lunch and I ordered something with shrimp. Well....the shrimp I got still had not only the shell on it, but the feet, the eyes and even the feelers! I just about lost what little was left in my stomach when I saw those eyeballs looking at me.

Aaaannnyyyway....now that you've heard about two of the worst/best times of my life.....I think I'll have another of those DOTDs, mighty tasty if I do say so myself. :D

And you know, regarding my comment about monkey bars before, I was thinking about it and we do have a monkey bar right here! You know a monkey (Mario) and a bar (Thursdays). Monkey - Bar. Ok, so much for entertaining myself. I think I'll finish my drink while I listen to them analyzing the debates and I'll see you all tomorrow. :D

Hey, I think this is my 5,000th post and I couldn't think of anything better than spending it right here with good friends. A round for everyone on me!

Bring on that DOTD! You can't taste the alcohol? That sounds like my kind of drink.............like Richard's slushies...........mmmm all of that lemon and lime.

Let's invent a drink called the Monkey Bar! (I hate to think what will be in it).

Debbie, those legs and eyes on those little shrimpies never bothered me.............I can peel a shrimp faster than anybody you know!

Slick, you can't find the ocean yet??? Geeze, maybe there just isn't one. (Go directly to Slick if you don't understand this comment:D :D )

Why are we all so dehydrated? Must be the debates.............

Everything is mostly packed and ready to go, just gotta finish up school stuff, go to work tomorrow and then we're otta here!

Mario, can you please go check on Donna & David please? It's been awfully quiet over in that dark corner, and you know how when it's too quiet there's gotta be somebody getting into some kind of trouble. ;) :D

It's kinda chilly tonight, anybody up for a fire? I'll go bring in some wood.

Hi Christa.....welcome to Thursdays. Please come in and make yourself comfortable. Only rule is "leave the attitude" at the door. I think our bartender is signed off for the night but I'd be happy to get you anything you want. :)

Oh yes, and watch out for Mario. He gets a little carried away sometimes.

Debbie: Nikked beer DONE! Sit down and I'll go get the wood and light the fire. You've got enough to do.

Ah, pretty and fruity????? Oh dear, let me look in the bartenders manual........

**flips pages** **mumbles** pretty and fruity. pretty and fruity. Maybe this one.

How about a strawberry daiquiri with an umbrella? Or would you prefer something non-alcoholic?
While you decide I'm just going out back to bring in some wood for the fire. Guess I should think about whipping up some snacks too.

Your famous crab dip would go good right now, Slick.

Welcome Christa......sure glad that you dropped by.

You are always welcome, this place usually opens on Wednesday for those who are a day ahead of us...........and stays open until sometime Sunday. Even though this is "Thursdays" we can't seem to tear ourselves away - it is just too darn much fun.

Gee thanks Slick. :) School's not going to well right now. I hate it when they ask a question on a subject that we covered 3 classes ago. Like I'm really going to remember the details of that when I can't even remember what we covered 3 weeks ago much less 3 classes ago!

I don't know the names of any pretty and fruity drinks, but they always come with an umbrella, don't they? ;)

Mmmm.....crab dip....

Here Slick, I found some of that apple wood that Laurie (I think it was her) brought in a few weeks ago. Really makes the place smell nice.

No problem David, as long as there's no hanky panky going on. This is a family bar after all.....sometimes. ;) :D

Tables wiped off and dirty glasses cleaned.
Kitchen floor swept and counters cleaned off.
I think that odda to it for the evening crowd.

Now, on with the drinks.
Christa, here's your strawberry daiquiri with umbrella.
Debbie, you didn't order anything so here's a nikked beer to see you through those chapters.
Captain, always nice to see you here. SD DONE!
Gini: you didn't order anything either, so here's your slushie!
David and Donna: well....I'm not going there.

DONE!

On with the food. Hot dip with one variation. Shrimp instead of crab. MMMMM good.
BBQ chicken wings.
Zucchini cakes (same as potato pancakes except made with shredded zucchini) with sour cream and all fixin's

Enough???:)

Now I've got a hankerin to hose off some picnic tables. The fun never stops.....:D

Wow, Slick! <pats couch next to me> Here sit down and relax for a minute. The fire's going good and everything's cleaner than it's been in weeks, so why not join us and enjoy the fire. Sheesh, I had no idea you had to actually cutthe wood, why didn't you say something, I would've helped. I'm an expert at wood cutting. I think I've mentioned this before, but cutting down trees and chopping wood is what my dad does for fun, so I grew up cutting wood. We each even had our own appropriately sized axes! (picture a 7 year old, a 10 year old and a 12 year old with an ax - 2 brothers and one sister[me] and you've got the right picture in your head - amazing all three of us are still around to tell these stories.)  ;) :D

I just smooched Peanut for you, she's being a good little tutor again. I think she likes the heat from the lamp. Tubby's snoring away in his little bed. I'll give him a smooch too when I get up.

Mario, can you please put another quarter in the juke box please? I think the Tim McGraw songs have run out, what else is on that juke box?

slick
10-14-2004, 09:49 PM
OMG Debbie, I had my own axe growing up too and it's still in Mom's basement! :D :D My parents started taking us camping when we could barely walk and chopping wood was the first thing I learned (aside from "don't play with matches").

**plunk** Thanks for the seat. I just like to make sure everyone is happy.

Thanks for smooching the Princess Peanut. Don't forget Tubby, but wait until he wakes up. I can hear him snore from here. :D :D

MARIO, GET AWAY FROM THOSE CHERRIES! YOU KNOW WHAT THEY DO TO YOU!!!

Tubby & Peanut's Mom
10-14-2004, 10:27 PM
Well, homework is handed in so all I have to do is check in one more time tomorrow and I'm done with school until I take my final next week. Works out good because I'll take the final on Tuesday and then I won't have to worry about school again until I get back, so it's a true vacation - yipppeee!!!!

Slick, I can't believe you had your own ax too! I thought we were the only kids in the world with our own axes. They were put to good use and then - thankfully - my dad made a wood splitter which was soooo much easier than chopping. But then of course he could make more wood faster, and who had to haul it all? Yep, you got it. :D

Here, have another nekkid beer and tell me more stories. However, don't feel slighted if I doze off, it's been a long day....

Oh, oh, Mario didn't listen and he's in the cherries again - quick, somebody, take the chandelier down before he starts swinging on it again and slopping those cherries all over Slick's clean bar!

Well I think I might be able to sleep now. Just took a nice warm bath and had a real live beer (not cyber and not nekkid, unfortunately), so I'm off to see if the sandman comes. This only happens like two or three nights a month for me, so it's really not a problem, but it sure makes me sympathize with those who do have a real problem. :(

Tubby is now curled up on his daddy's clothes (which happen to be laying on the floor in the bathroom since he took a hot tub before me and didn't pick them up afterwards  ). Peanut came barging in a bit ago, but evidently decided it was bedtime since that's where she is now. She's such a cutie. :D

So I'm off. Slick, please give big hugs and smoochies to Speckles and Max for me and I will definitely check in tomorrow.

G'nite everybody. :)

Unless she sees for herself she just might believe who know what about what Mario tells her about what's going on in that corner  Good snack-a-roo's Slick, anyone up for breakfast? Bloodies are always a good wake-me-up while I get the griddle going. HI LOGAN! One jar Bloodies and a pitcher of Mimosa's (just for us Logan). How about some of those Chesapeake Bay crab eggs benedict that we had some time ago? We can sit on the veranda and wait for the West Coast lazy bones to wake up ;) Did you find that stash of apple wood T&P's Mom? I put it under the back porch to keep it dry.

I know what you mean, Gini. I have a ton of stuff to do today and I told myself NO PT until I have it mostly done. Well.....needless to say that hasn't worked very well. I'm nowhere near being done with everything and yep, here I am!

But I have a good excuse. I need a good wake me up drink. Couldn't sleep again last night - despite my best efforts, so I'm dragging tail today. Ooh, just like Mario! :D

So, is a Spanish coffee a good wake me up or does anybody have any other good ideas?

Laurie, yes, we found the apple wood - after Slick stumbled on a piece that was sticking out a bit. She's ok, but we had to re-pick up the armful of wood she was originally carrying. ;)

Good morning everyone. Looks like most of the cleanup work is already done.

When I show up for work in the mornings I always tell myself no PT until certain tasks are done. These are tasks where other people are waiting on the information that I deliver to them. It used to take me about 45 minutes to complete but with PT as my motivation, I've managed to streamline the process to 20 minutes.

a BM sounds good here too.:D

OK, you all know that I'm a newbee here at Thursdays . . . so I have one questions . . . Who is Mario?

gini
10-15-2004, 03:12 PM
Let me get in here and answer you seriously before "other" people have too much fun.

Mario is a real monkey and he lives with Willie and her husband.
Willie is a Pet Talk member who goes by......gosh, I hope this is right............Trayi52. I'll research that one and get back to you.

Mario is just wonderful in real life and he loves blueberries and people and just about everything.

We adopted him for Thursdays.........and he gets into any kind of trouble that we can imagine. For example, he just loves cherries, so he is always stealing them from your drinks.... or he just grabs the jar.

He also loves to swing from the rafters and has a penchant for stealing any kind of clothing you might leave around and flings it up on the rafters.

And Mario loves to dance..........and sit on your lap........and give you kisses (usually cherry flavored).

Hope this helps. Oops, and I forgot, Mario wears a diaper and it usually needs to be changed.:D
