... and feeling very sorry for himself!

We went to pick him up at 12:30. I was so excited! Squid and Ollie wanted to come but I figured it was best to leave them at home. Toby went insane when they put his leash on. I was going to carry him out to the car, but there was no chance of even getting him to stand still :rolleyes: He barked the whole way home, and then did a mad lap of the yard. The pups were surprisingly quiet and gentle with him, I think they know he's still not 100% They both sniffed him, but Squid hasn't left his side the whole time he's been back! Toby's pretty much exhausted himself, he's asleep on the couch, and Squid's been there with him all afternoon :)

He's come back a little worse for wear though. Apart from the obvious scar on his belly (which I'll get pictures of later, I'm sure he won't appriciate being rolled over right now) he's been pulling his fur out on his elbow and leg :( I can tell he doesn't feel so good because he's not holding his ears forward (his ears go back when he's upset or scared) but I'm sure it's nothing a long sleep and lots of cuddles can't cure.

He's going to hate being kept quiet though, he loves to run. And he's not allowed any treats. He's on a strict diet of chicken and rice, and he's not gonna be too impressed :rolleyes:

I'm so glad to finally have my boy back! I want to thank everyone again for all the PM's, prayers and thoughts, you have no idea how much we both appreciate it :) I'm so happy, I HAVE MY BOY BACK! :D

Poor Toby, of course, he wants to feel sorry for himself and of course he wants everyone else to feel sorry for him. Cute pictures- what a nice brother Sqid is!

Toby, you're breaking my heart. You look so sad. We're so happy to have you back home. I hope you feel much better now and maybe you'll quit feeling so sorry for yourself. Hope to see your ears up soon. Squid, you're such a good brother.

What wonderful news!!!!!! He will recuperate so much better at home, and perhaps will stop pulling that fur now that he's got his couch back!

Well he looks absolutely amazing! He has every right to feel sorry for himself he has been through a lot :D

YEAH!!!! I'm so glad he's back home with you and his brothers. He'll get better quicker where he's comfortable.

I'm sure that sad face has worked to get him special treatment before and it'll work now - right??? ;)

Bless his heart, he deserves it - he's had a bad couple of weeks.

Yay Toby!!! I'm so glad you got well enough to let the white coats let you go home, where you belong! Your mommy missed you so much, and your brothers did too. I hope you get 100% back to yourself soon! Until then, milk the pity routine for all you can... ;)

Kia was listless for about a week after she came home from the hospital, so don't worry about that "I'm feeling sorry for myself" look.

What a way to start off my day. :) Yeah for Toby!!! You must be so relieved. If I were you I'd be hugging him all day. Every day it will get better and better and pretty soon he will be his old self again.

Oh happy day!!! What great news:D Welcome home sweet Toby:) Oh, how wonderful it is to see you resting on YOUR couch:) I shudder when I think how very ill you were. I'm sure with lots of rest, a good diet and lots of TLC from Mom and Ollie and of course, nurse Squid, :D you'll be feeling great in no time! LOTS of hugs to you beautiful Toby! I know just what you mean here, a year ago when Tommy had a horrible gastroenteritis he spent 5 days at the vet hospital and nearly underwent exploratory surgery (he had a sudden turn for the better and the vet held off on surgery). The whole house felt wrong, just everything felt wrong. It was a sick, dreadful feeling of my whole world just having that bleak and scary feeling. It was almost more than I could stand to see his balls and bones laying around on the floor, but I couldnt' stand to put them away either because that felt even worse.

I remember acutely how dark those days felt while he was gone, and how it felt like a gush of bright warm light in my soul when he was home again. Everything just felt right again. A bone laying on the floor was just something for me to trip over again, instead of standing out because it was his and untouched. It's so hard to put that feeling into words :) I'm so very glad your baby is back home with you again, and you can breathe a true sigh of relief.
