I think a couple of people already kinda know about him since I gave a little teaser in General:p

Bon is the newest member of our family:D Our house just wasn't the same without a big dog in it so we decided to get the biggest dog we could find! LOL!

Mark decided that he would like a mastiff. He said he had the name, we just had to find the dog. Well....I found the dog for him!
He's a English Brindle Mastiff.
I got him from a breeder in Indiana. He was only the only male brindle out of the litter. His mom, dad and grandmother were all there for me to see. Of course I had to take a few pictures of them.

WOW all the replies!!!! I would have never imagined!

First of all Robin says Nah nah nah nah nah!!!:p

Tori gets along awesome with him, they are going at it right now!
Roxey loves her big brother and would even protect him when she thought Tori was getting a little too rough.
And Huney, she's like...Whatever:o

His personality, is pretty laid back but since Tori's been here he's been being a total puppy! He was just really timid at first but Tori is just totally bringing out the puppy in him!

I knew it was meant to be that he come home with me as soon as I talked to the breeder! Something just clicked. I didn't get to her house until after dark and she couldn't have been happier to see me. She just knew that he was going to a loving home. I told her I would make sure to keep in touch and send her all kinds of pictures (since I've already taken over 100 and so has Robin!).

I haven't seen Mark this happy since Angus left us. It's so good to see him smile:D

I am so happy for you both! He is beautiful! I've always liked brindles and hadn't even heard of a Mastiff until someone put a pic in another thread. I was discussing with Kay the other day that I thought I might like one some day but didn't know if I could handle all the slobber :p We are going to get some wonderful pics when I get there. Oh yeah I forgot to tell you he went to the vets yesterday and he ONLY weighs 38 pounds and is 13 weeks old! He could possibly get over 200 lbs. Not that big is is;)

Oh Yeah!!! I am so happy for you! Mastiffs are such gorgeous dogs!! And I sure hope so! He was awesome!

We're not sure if he'll be going to the park on the 24th since he isn't able to get his rabies till next month (and isn't registered with the park) plus Mark is having foot surgery on the 15th, so he won't be able to come with me. We'll just have to play it by ear.

Deli, I do have brag books for the kids...I just need to find time to get some of it together!!! No time now that's for sure (I just had to put him in bed to get a second to sneak on here:o ).

Thanks everyone for all the nice comments. I really think that this is what we (meaning us and the girls...well at least Roxey) needed. Yes, he's going to be a handful, constant attention all the time. He's already trying to chew on everything he can get his teeth on so I'm just telling him no and sticking something else in it! Whew...what a job!

I think I'm going to try and look for a forum that has other mastiff owners or maybe one that is all mastiff so I can get some pointers on how to deal with this contantly growing boy. I'm going to need all the help I can get. So if anyone knows of any just let me know:)

Bon is soo adorable! I love the brindle color!:D Major was 34.8 pounds on August 5th. I'm sure Bon will outgrow him very quickly!!Right now Major probably weighs 1 or 2 more pounds than him though haha:)

I don't know much about mastiffs but thought Bon was so unique in coloring I decided to get on Petfinder and see what kind of Mastiff's I could find. The first one I opened was this one:

I am working and can't take the time to read all of the posts, but I can tell, EVERYONE, is just as excited as I am about Bon!

Hey, you all can come any time you want...my door is always open! Yes Robin, Alden better come and see him soon (he won't stay little for long!).

It's going to be such fun watching him grow, grow, grow & grow some more (I swear he looks like he's grown since I brought him home:eek: ) and sharing all the tons of pictures I will and have already been taking:D

I'm sure I'll have to wait for times like this when he is asleep to post, but be prepared to see him alot because I just can't keep this boy to myself any more!

Of course it's still not the same around here, but he is definately helping in the healing.

Roxey and him played tonight and she is just so easy with him. What a little motherer she is. He's been trying to warm up to Huney and she'll tollerate him a little...but not much yet.

Ohhh and get this.....
he's spent the last 2 nights sleeping in the BIG bed:eek: :eek: Daddy is becoming a big softie;)

Actually if he would start sleeping by himself he could have the king sized waterbed we have in our extra room! Don't know though, he might wake up in a swimming pool with those sharp toenails he has:eek:

And slick, I wouldn't doubt that Angus did have something to do with this. Bon was born exactly 3 months to the day that we had to have Angus put to sleep.

Never been part of raising a mastiff, but St. Bernards are pretty close in many regards (drool included!).

Advice? Leash train him right now. While he's still littler than you. Be firm and consistent about NOT letting him pull. Walks will take longer right now if you stop walking and make him sit every time he pulls at the leash, but it will make the rest of his life MUCH easier to deal with.

Yes, I'm serious. Freckles (180+ pounds full grown) was leash-trained by the time she was three months old, and everyone remarked for the rest of her life what a pleasure it was to walk her. Same with Bruni.

Set other boundaries NOW, especially "all four paws belong on the ground!" Yes, he's a big enthusiastic puppy now, but 6 months from now he'll be able to knock over any unsuspecting adult with ease, never mind a year from now!

Don't know what size water bowls the girls have, but with that big ol' Mastiff head, same with block-headed Saints - my family always had a quart-sized mixing bowl on a big plastic placemat. Those floppy jowls WILL get water everywhere when he drinks, so the placemat is for your kitchen floor's sake. They are cheaper to replace than most flooring!

He may tend to bit a little on the stubborn side, and kind of a doofus (and I say that with all the love in my heart, no disrespect), but just be consistent and repetitive with his training, and he will (eventually) get it!

Oh, what a sweet, sweet face he's got. And is he Daddy's boy, or what!!! Angus must be wagging his whole back end up there at the Rainbow Bridge to see his daddy grin again. And it's hysterical that little blonde fluffball Honey is so "whatEVER" about him!

Oh, and keep a roll of paper towel in the car, handy for de-drooling people and things! ;)

We have the BIG raised water/food bowls for him and a towel under it (although it doesn't seem to do much good:o )
And thanks to Staci he/we have personalized "Drool Rags"! He gets that water everywhere:eek:

Oh yes, he is quite the doofus at times and very stubborn.
He's getting better at not jumping on us when we are in our chairs, but he still wants to jump on the counter whenever he thinks I have something for him:rolleyes: Your right, consistenty is the key! He's already getting better about getting the tissues out of the trash (they seem to be his favorite).

The leash training seems to be going good. He did wonderfully when we were at the bark park yesterday and he got along with all the other doggies soooo good!

I think we've found ourselves another great dog...Angus is definately wiggling that butt and smiling that big smile of his:D

Hey, anna! Thanks for the update! :) I can't wait to see more photos of him! Oh, and, a suggestion for water is a water bottle instead of a bowl. If you have a crate for Bon, the water bottle is a lot less messy than a bowl. I had to get one because Finn kept trying to swim in his, and, I'm not exagerating! :) He would dig and roll in his bowl, rarely ever actually getting any water. ha ha, but, they have half gallon water bottles that eliminate that problem. Just a suggestion.

Anna and Mark, I'm so glad you found room in your hearts for this little-for-now fellow. He is just too durn cute! I can see how much he has grown when comparing the Bark Park pics to the first pics on this thread. I bet he gets every bit as big as the one that was "cooling off" in the swimming pool. :D I just love it when puppies have the big heads and paws and you just know they're going to grow into them.

It sure is good to see the pics of Mark smiling and looking like he's having such a good time. I just know that Angus is glad that his daddy is happy again.

I know this is late, but I just couldn't help but wish Bon a BIG (pun intended) hearty WELCOME!!! :D :D
