As most of you know, I take shelter dogs for overnights frequently as a break from the shelter and a training opportunity (Odie found a great home btw! And so did Alexia, my last foster :D ). Here's my latest girl, Nina. I'm not fostering her, just having her spend a few nights a week. She's a WONDERFUL dog but she needs tons of work on housebreaking right now. When I had her here, she held it for 16 hours because she won't potty in front of people. I even took her on a 3 mile walk and then sat in the grass for an hour and she never went. I tried EVERYTHING under the sun. She didn't even have an accident in the house - poor girl. We saved her from the kill shelter. She only has one ear and the vet believes she was born that way. I personally think one of her littermates must've munched it off when they were newborns, but I'm not a vet. Anyway, enough yacking from me, here's the cute girl (she's 5 months old):

What a cute pupster Nina is! I have a softspot for all of the babies you bring home, Aly. I think it's a great thing that you are doing for these darlings and I'm sure they love coming home with you. Give Nina lots of love and treats for me! Let us know how her potty training is coming along ;)

**hugs**

I know this thread is about Nina, but I just wanted to add that Alexia's home couldn't be more perfect. The people own a yoga/pilates studio and will be bringing her there with them every day!!! She loves nothing more than to be around people so it's just perfect :D

How strange that she won't potty in front of people... it can't be comfortable to hold it that long! :o I wish you luck with her training!

**NINA UPDATE**

Nina was adopted to an active, young couple yesterday :D They have a cat and wanted a dog to run with by the lake here (there are lots of running and biking trails along the lake). They visited with lots of dogs, but were completely drawn to Nina and her lovable personality. They weren't even put off by her housebreaking issues! I am going to call them in a week or two to follow up on how she's doing. I think this is a great home for Nina!

Aly,

She is wonderful ......... what a pretty face .......
AND
Great news about her adoption.

Just a note:
Captain used to be like that - he would hold it in for ages and ages, would not go if you were watching, would not go in a strange place .......

Took about a YEAR!!!! before he realised he was a boy and could wee on EVERY SINGLE tree when we walk .............
