Handsome Cat Needs a Home!

I have a 10-yr-old black and white cat named Murphy who needs a home. We live in Minneapolis, MN with 3 other humans, 2 dogs, and (the problem) another cat. Murphy won't poop in his litterbox if another cat uses it, and we can't seem to keep the other cat from using both boxes. My housemates want to send Murphy to the humane society, but I really don't want to murder my cat. Does anyone know of a good place where my kitty can live out the rest of his days as a happy, healthy, "only cat"?

Thanks so much for the advice! I'm heartsick about losing my feline companion, so any advice about avoiding a certain death is much appreciated! I'll post him on Yahoo right away.

Thank you for your concern. Unfortunately, I am located in Minneapolis, MN, and this service appears to service the state of Michigan. I have branched out my appeal and placed an ad on Yahoo. I will not murder my cat with all these great resources available.

You know, this maybe quite a stretch, but maybe with a little imagination, you might be able to keep the other cat out of one box. Some pet supply companies sell pet doors that are activated by a collar that the pet wears. If you could maybe find a hooded litter box and pet door of about the same size.....It may work. I have only one cat and have never tried this, it was totally an idea that just came to me. I think its because it would kill me if I had to give up my own cat.
Also, beware of people who take free pets for research. You might try a cat rescue organization, they are not for profit and no kill organizations, and a good way to make sure your pet ends up in a good loving home.
