I'm still in shock.

Okay, when I got home from school this afternoon my Mom had a weird look on her face and told me to come inside... and that we needed to talk. By the sound of her voice I knew it was something bad. I sat on the couch and said "who died?" "No one died." she said. "What did I do now?" I said. "Nothing." she said. I was really confused...

Then she said that the SPCA had phoned an hour earlier and you'll NEVER guess what the lady said. She said the owners of Missy had NEVER come to get her and that the 4 day time to pick her up was over. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT... my Mom talked to Missy's owner yesterday and she told us she had JUST picked Missy up and that she was safe at home! WHAT A LIER! Anyways the SPCA lady who was so nice asked if we were still interested in adopting Missy and my Mom said YES! :D

So we just got back and Missy is now ours! I'm SO SO SO happy and so is she! She purred the whole way home.... I've never been happier! :D:D:D We've also decided to change her name to "Misty" which I had original been calling her... new name, new start. She answers to it too, since it sounds almost the same as Missy. I'll post new photos of her tonight.

The only bad thing is that my Mom has told me she has to be an outdoor cat only. Apparently Misty's only ever been an outdoor cat so my Mom is afriad she'll distroy the house, and also Squeekers would probably tear her to shreads (she HATES other cats). BUT she will be sleeping in the garage every night and its nice and warm in there. So I'm sure she'll be just fine. We've already introduced her to the a few of the neighbours and they all LOVE her! :)

Thanks everyone for the prayers earlier, they worked! :D

Congrats on being able to adopt Misty!

I hope that you can try to convince your mom to allow Misty to be indoors only. It will be much safer for her. Maybe you can try confining her to one room with access to a scratching post and several toys? Then when you're sure she's not destructive, she could get run of the whole house.

Even though Squeekers doesn't like other cats, they could still potentially live peacefully in the same household together. If you had Misty confined to one room for awhile, that would help Squeekers get used to her scent and the introduction would go a bit more smoothly.

I'm so happy for you! I have no idea what that woman was thinking when she called you.

Congratulations on getting Misty! However, not to bring you down or anything, but please show your mom this thread (http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59999) which was just posted this evening also. I know a lot of cats are outside cats, or inside/outside, but this is what can happen to them when they're outside. Just because Misty has been outside doesn't mean she will tear up the house. Please, at least consider it and give her a chance inside.

Now, where are those pictures?

Congrats on the new addition to your home! I echo the sentiments of the others: please see if you can get your mom to agree to at least a trial period of allowing her in the house. We've had animals we swore would attack a new addition, and after a few eeks of snarling, the animals lived peacefully with each other. Just because she was an outdoor cat does not mean she'd do anythign to harm the house. She's obviously not feral, so she should be able to be successfully rained not to scratch, etc.

I know its harder when you live at home and have to abide by your parent's rules. I think it is amazing she adopted Misty for you. But please try to educate and inform your parents that she could possibly be successfully integrated into your home. It'll definately take time & patience - but it could be done.

Good luck! She is such a lovely cat! I'm so excited for you. :)

Thanks you guys.

I'll DEFINATELY try my best to convince my Mom to let Misty into become and indoor kitty. I'm all for it. I HATE having cats outside, there are so many dangers out there, I know until she is indoors I'll be worried sick about her 24/7. I'll let her look at that thread too, thanks for posting the link Tubby & Peanut's Mom. If anyone has any other suggestions as to what I can tell my Mom to try and change her mind, do PM me!

Here's the pics of my new baby girl! :D Isn't she just the prettiest little gal?

She is a beautiful cat. I hope you can convince your mom to keep her inside. We took in a couple of strays who adapted very well to indoor life and have never done any damage whatsoever.

Well Misty is doing just great. I just checked on her and spent an hour playing with her. She sure is a very playful girl!

I talked to my Mom last night about what you all said and she said she'd discuss it with Grandma, because apparently she is the one who doesn't want another cat in the house. So my Mom brought it up this morning to her and it worked! We're going to be bringing her into the house! Not for a few days though, we need to get a few things first and take her to the vet - she has to get her belly shaved her fur is really badly matted.

I'm sooooooooooo happy! :D

I would say Misty is the luckiest cat of the day today! The pics show that you have been taking excellent care of her and she is just beautiful. How could they not agree to let her be a house kitty? Talk to her and tell her she has to be a good girl in the house and then she can sleep with you and be true diva type kitty.
I'm very happy that YOU get to keep her...her previous people don't deserve her.

OMG! What a beautiful cat Missy is!! I can't believe her original owner would have left her and then lied about it. How mean. Well, her loss and your gain! :D Missy is definitely in a much better home with you! :D I love her coat color! Congratulations on the new addition! I'm so happy for you both! She would make a great pampered indoor kitty...;) LOL

Do keep us posted and feel free to post more pictures of this beautiful girl!

**hugs**

...And here we have a very unhappy, jealous Squeekers. Although she hasn't met her new sister she knows she's here and she's furious! :o My poor girl.

Unfortunetly, my Mom and Grandma have changed their minds... they've told me she can't be in the house now! :( But... we're going to be turing the garage into a nice room for her, full of toys, scratching posts, etc... and I want to get her a window seat. We'll have a cat door so she can come and go as she pleases in there. But we'll keep her in there at night so she's safe... I hope it all works out. I would feel so much better if she could be safe in the house, but they've told me to drop the subject... they said unless it doesn't work out she's can't go in the house.

Ugh... well I'll be leaving home in 2-3 years and I'll be taking her with me and then she'll be in MY house!

She sure is happy to be with us again, she was cuddling with me for the longest time earlier, licking me all over! :) She's so sweet.

She's beautiful!

I had so hoped that she would be an indoor only cat :(

I hope she lives a long and happy life. She is a very lucky girl to have you; and you to have her!

Best of luck with your new beauty!!
