While it's probably nothing to those of you who recently survived hurricanes--winds like this just don't happen up here. Yesterday we had a major windstorm. I lost over twenty trees in my yard. Eight of those hit my dog run fences. Fortunately, no one escaped, they just got into another fenced area and none of them were hurt. My new fence is still standing and isn't damaged at all.

Behind those trees is the main fence for my biggest dog run!
The freezers are full of dog food meat--one of them is trashed.

Same trees from a different angle. The trees did not break, they were literally ripped up by their roots.

Except this one, it's a huge old tree and it snapped right in half. It took out the back of the dog run fence. The dogs could have gotten loose from there, but I think it made so much noise that it scared them away. (Most of this happened before I came home from work. the dogs were all moved to safety as soon as I got here.)

This is Pingo and HObo's pen. Poor Pingo was cowering in her doghouse when I got home. She was most happy to run straight to the house.

Pingo's pen again.

This one makes me feel the worst. See that rope tied to the tree, it's the remants of Kayleigh's trolley tie-out.

She was still tied to the tree when it fell. I was moving Goldie to a safer spot and as we went by a huge gust of wind toppled Kayleigh's tree. Thank God she wasn't sleeping under it at the time.

I took today off work to clean up the yard and we still have tons of work to do to get it back together.

Unfortunately these images are all too familiar.
That's all over here.

I'm glad no one got hurt or escaped!

Oh my! Amazing how such big old trees can be ripped right out of the ground like that. Seeing as how I don't get to the dog side too much, for me it was neat to see your back yard and the dog run - although I wish it was under better circumstances. :( I'm so glad none of the doggies were hurt. Fences can always be repaired.....

Looking on the bright side....at least you'll have firewood for a long time to come. ;) Oops, just saw that Loudlou said the same thing. :o

Since we heat our house with a woodstove, the down trees will be put to good use!

Im glad no one was hurt! We have really bad wind here and Ive seen quite a few trees topple. Last year RB Blue was out running the fence and a tree right next to it crashed down due to the wind. The fence stopped the tree but that poor dog was SO scared!

He didnt go outside but to pee for a week, poor guy!
