Sugar is brown sugar, and granulated sugar is white sugar;)

*No* icing sugar in that recipe.

Tell me how it goes when you're finished!

how can it be Brown Sugar?

The recipe does ask for brown sugar already. There r 3 types of sugars being used.

Sooo confused...

Whoops!:o I only saw the two at the bottom...sorry!I'm not quite with it today:rolleyes: (my excuse is that I'm sick):p

Ok..as to the sugar at the top? I don't think it's icing sugar... I'm going to guess it's brown sugar, but I don't actually know. There's obviously a mistake in this...now you just have to find out what they meant! Sorry I'm not much of a help:p

Sugar is regular WHITE sugar. It is the same as granulated sugar. I dont think it would be icing sugar.... if it was I think it would specify it. :)

The first sugar is normal WHITE sugar....not brown. If it was brown, it would say brown sugar. I'm not sure about the granulated sugar though.

ahh wait. If it says add sugar... and then later specifies GRANULATED sugar... I guess SUGAR must mean Brown Sugar. Very confusing.

PCB Get on Yahoo!

Ok, I have it figured out lol.

First sugar is white sugar
Second sugar is brown sugar
Third sugar is white sugar.

Ok, I'm SURE the first sugar is white sugar. You always cream butter and white sugar.

I'm with Maria. If you look at the directions and know about cooking, you know you always "cream" butter and granulated (regular white) sugar.

The second amount of "sugar" is mixed with the second set of ingred. to make the mixture you put on top.

Fudge Upside Down Cake

3/4 cup sugar
2 tbsp butter

1/2 cup milk
1 cup flour(all pourpose)
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
2 tbsp cocoa
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 1/2 cups boiling water

Cream together 3/4 cup sugar and butter.
Stir in milk.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt and 2 tbsp cocoa together.
Add to creamed mixture and beatutil smooth.
tir in walnuts.
Spread batter into a square 9 inch pan.

In a small bowl combine brown sugar,1/2 cup granulated sugar and 1/3 cup of cocoa.
Sprinkle over the batter.
Pour the boiling water over the top.
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
The cake will rise to the top and boiling water will combine with the sugar/cocoa mixture to make a rich syrup underneath.

Granulated Sugar is the same as regular white sugar.
The 3/4 cup is for the cake mix and the other is for the frosting type stuff.

I asked my mom, she does tons of baking stuff and is sure about this. ;)

Granulated sugar is regular white sugar.
Don’t use powdered sugar.
I suppose they just specified granulated sugar since you have to mix it with brown sugar for the topping.

Granulated sugar is the same substance as regular white sugar, but you can buy it with larger crystals, so that it crunches more - that's granulated sugar. You know how sometimes when you see stuff at a bakery with sugar sprinkled on top, the sugar crystals are bigger? That's Ggranulated sugar they're using. But for cooking/mixing in purposes, it's exactly the same as "regular" white sugar.
