I thought I would introduce my new rescue kitty, Jacob, a red tabby and white Persian who was neutered, declawed and starving to death when I found him about three weeks ago underneath my neighbor's house. He only weighed 4 lbs (and he's a BIG cat) and his whole body was covered in fist sized matts all the way down to the skin.

I took him to the vet the next day for a shave and bath, testing, vaccinations, etc. Except for being dehydrated and anemic, he was free of disease, fleas, mites, ringworm, etc.

My mom named him Jacob because of his "coat of many colors" (dirt!). In the three weeks I've had him, he is now almost 9 lbs and is fully mobile. He was unable to even walk or sit up the first couple of days. We don't know where Jacob came from since we live in a rural area - if he was dumped or lost or what. Apparently no one is looking for him. At least he is safe, healthy and happy now. If you want to see him, visit his web page at: http://members.aol.com/pawpats/Jacob/Jacob.htm

Oh, Jacob. Your story breaks my heart. Who would abandon such a beautiful boy? But your story is going to have a wonderful happy ending. You will be well taken care of, brushed regularly and fed good treats. Please have your humans post pictures of you again so we can see your progress. You are a very lucky and beautiful boy and I hope you have a long and healthy life in your new home. Congratulations to your new humans for doing all of the right things and rescuing such an angel as you, Jacob.

Bless you, CareyCats, for taking this beautiful boy in. Someone at one time must have loved him since he is neutered. You surely whisked him from death's door. I hope he fills your heart with loved for many years to come, and you will surely be rewarded for your kindness.

Thank you all for your kinds words about Jacob. He is such a sweet boy, I can't imagine anyone not wanting him, but I guess they didn't. Jacob is a little shy, so I guess he just didn't like havng his picture taken. He has beautiful orange/golden eyes that he sees very well with. Or, he might be feeling a little embarassed that he's "naked" right now. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/wink.gif He does look very MUCH like Spencer!!!

Even though he doesn't have much hair to comb right now, he really likes being groomed. I just happen to already have 5 Persians/Himmys, so I'm used to all the hair, runny eyes, daily combing and weekly baths.

I feel like someone did love him and care for him at one time because he is a very gentle, trusting cat. He loves to purr and be rocked in the glider.

I do not breed cats, but do have some show cats and I've got some cats from a group of strays/ferals that we've rescued over the past two years in my new neighborhood. The ones that I didn't find good homes for, I kept. All are spayed/neutered and happy to be living indoors only. Jacob is more than welcome to be a part of our family now if that's what he wants....and I think he does!

Tanya,
I visited your website and looked at every cat. I am amazed!! How many do you have in your home at this time? And does your mother live with you?

I also know that your ex is an ex, but he must be a very animal friendly person too, based on the number of cats he rescued and provided to you.

You have a great website, and I hope Jacob will be comfortable with you.

Cookie was sound asleep close to the computer when I clicked on your link. The purring woke her up immediatetly, and she's staring with wide eyes at the screen right now!

You are so wonderful for rescuing Jacob! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/cool.gif Poor little kitty, his photos are so heartbreaking--especially the ones showing him after the big shave! But I know he is now in a loving home and I'm SO HAPPY for him! Looks like he will have plenty of company with all your other kitties. I hope the other CareyCats make him feel welcome. What was lost has now been found! HOORAY for JACOB!

Wow!! What an impressive family of kitty babies! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/eek.gif What a big heart and lots of patience you must have for all the "cattitude" you must endure! LOL Seriously, many hugs to you for adding Jacob. What a great addition! I'm sure he'll be very happy with all his new brothers and sisters!
Spencer, I agree, it is ashame that people can be so careless. I don't see how anyone could have let Jacob get away! He's precious! Luckily someone with a big heart and lots of love came along just in time http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

Keep us posted on his progress!
