Wildcats in England starving....

Have any of our British friends heard about the plight of zoo animals in England? I just read on a news website that not only are some of the animals threatened with slaughter to prevent the spread of hoof and mouth but that some of the meat eaters especially are facing starvation because meat is too hard to come by. Is this true?

Thank you very much. I had read an article on ABC.news.com which stated that animals in zoo, especially the big cats, were facing problems with not getting enough food due to the fact that a lot of the zoos were shut down to visitors. No visitor, no revenue, little money for food.
