Gracie seems like she is lonely or something lately. She tries to go outside with the dogs. I don't want her to start going outside. It is not only that but she just seems bored or something without another cat to play with.

So I've been thinking of adopting her a buddy. My question is she seems to be ok with other cats since her brother use to live here. Should I get a cat about the same age as her? Maybe one that is older then her?

I've always had a thing for calico's and siamese cats or a siamese mix. I thought about finding one from a shelter. I also like orange tabbies.

Here are a few I have been looking at

I like the little orangie on the bottom picture, the one on the far right. He's so cute! A lot of people will say that adopting a younger cat of the opposite sex works out best. I'm not sure how true it is, but it worked out well when I adopted Tibby after having Corkscrew already.

Ohh, that gray and white bobtail is adorable!!!

I've been told getting the opposite sex helps too but I had Ripley first and brought in Jazz as a kitten when he was 10 years old and I don't think it was going to matter what sex or age, he was just not happy after being an only cat for 10 years. I brought Scout in next when she was close to a year old, Jazz was 1 year old and Ripley 11 years old. It went okay but none of my three are buddies at all. Jazz and Scout play together but it often ends heated and Ripley and Scout really dislike each other (dominance thing I think).

If I'm lucky enough to adopt a kitten from Kimlovescats I hope it goes well and at least one bonds with him.

Good luck, keep us posted and bring on those pictures!

Are you close to TN where you live in West VA?? If I adopt one of Kim's kitten's in middle TN I'd be happy to drive half way and bring you one too. She's has several cuties to choose from!

I just thought I'd let you all know Gracie is around 5 months old. That is one reason I want go ahead and adopt another kitty before she gets any older. I hate for her to be alone too.

I like the orange one in the middle actually I believe they are females though. The grey and white is male and the black and white is male.

jazzcat- I live in southern part of West Virginia close to a town called Union. I'm not really sure how far from Tennessee I am.

Those orangies are way too cute! You've gotta get one of them!

Hmmm.. I wonder when I'll be in Virginia next to drop off one of my foster babies! :D ;)

I wish you could take them all, Tina. **sigh**

How do you choose??? I know that any one of them will be a darling companion for Gracie. Hopefully, starting younger, they will get along better than my Mimi and Butter!!

I really wish I could take them home too.:( This is going be really hard to choose. There are so many that need homes.:( Hoepfully I'll be able to pick the right one. I do love the calico's and torties but I also like the orange kitties. Why does this have to be so hard?

It's so hard because there are so many wonderful kitties that need a home.
I think you are doing the right thing by getting Gracie a friend. She is young and now is a good time to do it. I'm thrilled that you are going to adopt from a shelter!!! That's a wonderful thing to do.
My suggestion to you is to go to the shelter when your ready and I promise you will know which one is the right one for you. Let the kitty pick you and it will be right. It will probably be none of the ones you think you want but you will know it in your heart.
Keep us posted!!:D

Congratulations on adopting from a shelter and on your decision to get Gracie a friend.

I wouldn't know which one to pick, they are all so adorable.

I think Lisa said it best, "Let the kitty pick you and it will be right."

Good luck in whatever kitty you decide and when that time does come.......PICTURES, PICTURES, AND MORE PICTURES....:D

I think I'm going go to the shelter sometime this week. Probably won't be until Thursday or Friday though. I won't be going that way until then. Since about every shelter here is 30 minutes or more away.

Yes I will let the kitten pick us.:)

I'm so glad to hear that you'll be adopting a little sister or brother for Gracie. I'm also glad to hear that you'll let the kitten/cat choose you. I think this is the best way.:) Please update us when you can.

I got in touch with a lady that is in rescue. She just rescued a couple litter of kittens. I'm thinking of adopting one for her.

I'm really interested in one of her males she told me about. She said two of her males were a brownish beige with chocolate coloring on their ears, nose, and legs.

I'm not sure if she has pictures or not. If so I will get some.

I will keep everyone updated.:)
