My beloved Sister-In-Law Donna gave birth to Amy Paris at 6:15 am this morning. Amy weighed in at 2.9 KG, and both Mummy and baby are doing great! This is my first niece, and I have been so excited all day!! (Of course also very sad, as it reminds me how far away my family is :()

I have begged my exhausted Brother-In-Law to email me some pics as soon as he is able to, so I will post pics later, I just wanted to share my excitement with all of you!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

How far away do they live?

We live in Bahrain, in the Middle East, and they live in Johannesburg, South Africa :(

From the time we leave out house, to the time we land in Johannesburg, it's a 16 hour journey, including a 5-hour stop-over in Dubai!

Oh Julie, you have brought back fond memories of the day my first niece was born. I was so excited and went around the house saying I AM AN AUNT! and then I would just hug myself in excitement. That baby girl is my very favorite to this day (shhh, don't tell the others!) She lives in Northern CA now and is 37 years old.

And oddly enough, my brother and sis in law lived almost exactly 16 hours away from me by air. They lived in Brazil then.

So CONGRATULATIONS! It really is a wonderful position in life to be an Aunt! Spoil her as much as you can.

Congrats! That reminds me of when I first became an aunt. Now my niece is married and has her own children, making me a great aunt.
