I thought "Link" was the name of that Bluetick Hound" :o I didn't realize it was a "link" to that beautiful hound. But that's the ONE buddy. Do it now.

Given Debbie's fondness for orange fur... it would have to be an orange bred dog... or another LARGE orange cat that thought it wasa dog! :p

Poodles come in an apricot color ~ very close to orange!! And....they also come in three sizes - toy, mini and standard; surely there is one for your liking. I have had all three and, believe me, you would love any size (and they are 'cat friendly' too!) Debbie, come on, you would be a GREAT dog mommy. ;)

I voted Maybe.

I'd love to see them adopt a dog but only if they really wanted one. Dogs require more than cats.

I love the Coonhound but boy, I think Debbie would be shocked from that bark. The one Amber picked out is adorable also!!!

Dogs are great!!!

Hey,
We are "fixin" to get two little kitties in October. Our resident princess Emily is probably going to be pretty upset, not to mention our "alpha male" Eliot and our big loveable boy Dylan. But, we might consider a dog after a while. For now, we have to prepare a new home for our little Lizzie and Robbie. Maybe next fall hunting season I will get me a hound dog. You guys sure picked out some real CUTE dogs...

Thanks

Yippie skippy! A maybe! I agree, it's probably best to wait till the house dynamics settle again after the two new additions.

I just didn't like the "no way!"

No offense to poodles, of course, but mom always had poodles growing up, and they were treated like fru-fru little pansies in her house, and were not properly trained to not be little yippy-yappy terrors. Poodles, I guess, just bring back bad memories of those dogs from growing up!

None of us meant to be pushy... you will know the time when it comes to you, and yours. I really think some sort of hound is just waiting for your decision though, when it's right of course.

I am grateful for all the input...REALLY..I figure when the time is right we can find us an orange canine furbaby that just has to have a loving home.

Thanks to all of you that looked in Ohio for a potential new SIRRAHpooch!!

They are all from the Harris family, their names are their last name backwards and then the first 3 letters of their first names backwards. ;)

Dennis, Debbie, I'll still give you Kiara...

NOT!:p

I liked that little Jesse the terrier Amber:D You guys are all a hoot!!
Pam: no offense at all against poodles. Since growing up with them, I have just taken a wicked delight at poking fun at the tiny toys:rolleyes: My mom loved those and I swear they had it better than WE did! Yappy Pierre got to go to the poodle parlour like every other week and came home dyed different colors with painted toenails and I thought it was hysterical. Dennis and I had one sweet black lab - but lived on base and well, right next to a couple Generals who complained about her barking and so Ebony went to live with a young man with a farm and a German Shepherd. Dennis has been reading up on hounds - especially Basset and BTcoons - which I know he would love to take hunting with him. I read that blueticks are not known to get along with "non-canines" That sounds like they might eat my kitties!!!
Ah well, it's been fun - and I can't believe all you brats searching petfinders for dogs!!:D :p
Dennis: *Sirrahpooch*???ROFLMBO

Debbie, any dog could be good with the kitties! Depends on how they were raised. :)

jazzcat

Debbie - my brother has a purebred blue tick (one eyed Bart) and his son who is half BT and half Beagle. They both will kill anything that comes into the yard non canine. The list includes ducks, squirrels, birds, and skunks (and probably more my brother hasn't shared). They will shake the poor little creatures to death. They go insane when they see the neighbor's cat. I have no idea if this is a common trait or just lack of proper training but it scares me.

Pam, I think many people have a wrong opinion of poodles because of their stylish hairdo.
I've always liked their character: they are intelligent, fun and playful:)

Hey everyone don't worry. No need to explain as I know the word "poodle" often conjures up a strange looking dog in many people's minds. :) Before I got my first one in 1970 I felt much the same way. Now they have become like potato chips for me - I couldn't stop with just one. :D As with pitbulls, poodles often get a bad rap, but for obviously other reasons.

Seriously Debbie, no one here wants to put the pressure on you at all. We know you have a heart for all animals and if and when the time comes that you bring a dog into your home he/she will be a lucky one for sure! Please break it to the kitties gently though! :p

Anyone who passes up on getting to know a Poodle is truly missing out. My Reecie is the SWEETEST, quietest, most loving little boy. He's not yappy or froo-froo or any of that other stuff people like to quickly assume. Pam's right - its the exact same thing people do with Pits and other breeds. I can't even imagine what I'd do without my Reece boy. He helps me raise my foster kittens, he's done some therapy work (and will do more soon), and he's always there for a cuddle when I need him.

I actually voted "no" because I had never read anywhere where Debbie or Dennis expressed an interest in having a dog, plus knowing that they had 3 cats and 2 on the way, I thought the timing was off. I know this was meant in fun, but that was my immediate reaction, so I pressed the button.

I have 4 dogs and 2 cats, and they all do fine, so I know it's possible, just didn't want too much stress at one time on the parents!!!! :)

So did I. I know everyone wants them to get a dog and I'm sure they love dogs, but neither of them seem to want one right NOW, so I voted no.
