My laptop doesn't work - help!

I have no idea what happened to it.. but it's down.. it won't re-boot.. it wont' read any data.. it won't go to the set-up.. agh.. my dad is TRYING to re-boot it.. so he can re-install Windows all over again.. my poor laptop!! I NEED IT FOR SCHOOL! Agh.. It must've gotten a nasty virus or something..

I don't know what happened.. AGH!

It just TRIED to go to set up.. and it takes forever, then it says "Operating System not found".. What does that mean???

Sounds like it does need Windows reinstalled, can you boot it up off the CD drive?

Nope.. it won't do that..

It's screwed.. it just won't go anywhere.. it stays at the black screen with boot up options.. I press F2 for setup.. takes forever.. then it says OS not found..

Sounds sort of like what happened when my old hard drive crashed. I think it got that sasser worm. My brother couldn't even get anything off the hard drive. Good luck!

Yup.. might have that virus.. wow, viruses suck, huh? :( I miss my laptop!

I didn't. It was completely trashed. My brother built me a new one. He does all the computers for Black and Decker. That's why I was really shocked that he couldn't even get anything off the hard drive. I'm very careful to what sites I visit now.

It sounds like a failed hard drive to me. Some computer repair places can retrive the data off of it, but if it won't boot from CD than its too trashed to put another OS on it. Some viruses don't destroy the data, but they do destroy the part the OS lives on. Its very very very annoying. I wen't through this with one of my servers about a month ago :(
