Fox noises?

Anyone know what type of noise foxes make? A baby perhaps?? I know they don't bark...

Anyway..I heard this awful sound tonight. It was like 'MWWAAAA' really loud. It sounded so much like whatever it was, was in pain or really scared. It was dark out and I couldn't see what it was. I really wanted to go out and see..but I was afraid maybe it had rabies or something :o I felt really bad for it cause it sounded really hurt :(

Wish I knew if that was a fox. Was it high pitched? Poor thing, I hope it wasnt injured!

From what I've heard a happy fox says "Yiff yiff!" or something similar, but I don't know what a frightened or injured fox would sound like. :(

Audrey if their mating the sound is horrendous!!! Sounds a bit like two HUGE tom cats fighting!! The times I've woken up with that racket going on - I've lost count!! :eek: :eek: :eek:

If it sounds like a baby, it can be two mating cats as well.

Really? LOL. I thought it was a crow at first...that's kinda how it sounded

Could have possibly been a coyote too. We have a lot of them by my house, we are right across the street from a forest and swamp.
