I'm asking because my hubby and I may be taking a long weekend trip to the Bat Factory, and I am wondering what else we could do while we are there.
We will be getting to Louisville on a Friday around noon, and will be leaving on Sunday morning. So we'll have 1/2 of Friday and all day Saturday to do things.

Also... are there any hotels we should stay away from.. or any we should stay at?

Thanks for any help!

You may want to PM lizzielou742 if she doesn't see this. I know she's from there! :)

Yeah!! Are you looking to stay in the downtown area? I think the Slugger Museum is downtown so that would probably be good...

I'll get some stuff together and PM you!! :)

Hi there! I'm originally from Columbus, IN, so Louisville wasn't a far drive for me. I thought I would list some things that I enjoyed in and around the Louisville area.
There is quite a large Irish settlement in Louisville, so if you like Irish pubs and cuisine, you're in for a treat. I particularly like the Irish Rover.

Some things you can do during the day:
Go for a cruise on the Belle of Louisville. It's a nice relaxing way to spend a few hours, and it's pretty inexpensive.

Something a little strange, but oddly fun is to visit the Cave Hill Cemetary. It's beautiful and there is a pond in the center of it. If you're familiar with Kentucky Fried Chicken, then you can visit the Colonel himself at his gravesite in this cemetary!

Churchill Downs - this is where the Kentucky Derby is run every year. You could see if there is anything going on during the time you are there. If not, you can always visit the Kentucky Derby Museum (http://louisville.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=louisville&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.derbymuseum.org%2F).

There is also the Louisville Zoo (http://louisville.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=louisville&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.louisvillezoo.org%2F).

Hope this helps and have a good time in Louisville! :D

I'm also from Louisville. I've lived here all my life and I consider myself a "sheltered" person because I don't get around to all the fun places here. It's a really neat place, but you'd need more than a day and a half to do everything! It sounds like lizzielou has got things under control, and will be sending you some information. Also, the suggestions from wolflady sounded good. :)

PM me if you have any questions about the "big town".

Well, I'm from Lexington, KY, but I know some about Louisville since I've been there a few times! ;) Pitc9 (and Lizzielou!) :) the Slugger museum IS AWESOME!! We (my family) took my dad (who is a baseball nut) down to the museum last year and he loved it!! It's definitely a great place to tour! :)

Thank you all so much!

Now all we have to do is make our minds up when we are going to plan this!:p
My hubby and I haven't been on a vacation for 3 years (Honeymoon) before that was Las Vegas in 1997!
