I think it would be interesting to know how each of you found this site. I have posted the same message in the Dog General section.

I found it when my niece, Emily, sent me a link so I could see the Dog of the Day. Back then there wasn't a Pet Talk section, but I still checked for all the dogs, cats and pets of the day, everyday! I think it has been at least a year for me, if not a little longer.

And what a joy it has been to get to know all of you through your posts. Thanks, Karen and Paul.

I have actually previously answered this, but it was a while ago, and in passing.

When I first got my computer, I signed up to a service called E-Tour - you answer a questionnaire about your interests, and they bring you websites that match. One of my interests was cats (or pets), and so they brought me this website. I loved it from the start, but somehow missed the Pet Talk feature, so it was a couple of months later before I started reading the posts. Almost immediately I registered to post, and the rest is history!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif I began signing on about twice a week, then realized it was taking too long to catch up, so I started signing on everyday that I had time. A few months ago I started working at a place that had internet access (the healthcare industry can be quite the Luddite sometimes) and since I also have a lot of phone hold time on this job, too, I now sign on several times a day, and keep Cat of the Day as my home page, so I can see that latest kitty any time I change applications or close all my other windows! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

When I decided to adopt a kitty, I went on the Internet to look for a shelter in my area and also to look up some info on cat care (it had been a long time since I had my first cat, Sydney). Anyway, I used Ask Jeeves.com, and one of the questions that came up was, "Where can I see the Cat of the Day?". After a few weeks of searching the Internet and seeing this link on Jeeves, my curiosity finally got the best of me and I clicked on it. I instantly fell in love with the site! I especially loved the fact that the people who post here seem to always have a kind word for others and always seem to be willing to offer advice and share experiences. This site is truly unique and I always feel like I am among friends when I am here. http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

I heard about Cat of the Day and consequently, Dog and Pet of the Day, from a posting on the Pets message board on MSN Central. That was a little over three years ago. Since then, my day would always be incomplete without me first checking out the latest feature on Cat of the Day! I had no idea how bad my "addiction" to this site was until I found myself suffering from withdrawal when I couldn't get into this site. It was during that one time when a severe snowstorm (or was it a blizzard?) hit the East Coast a couple of years back, perhaps interrupting this site's web hosting service. Boy, did I have a miserable time! When Karen and Paul issued a response (to frantic questions from thousands of POTD fanatics, no doubt!) explaining why the site was down, and that it was going to be up and running again, I was only too relieved--like my life was back in order again! I am totally hopeless! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

I found catoftheday from Kirsten's site for Luna, where she had about Luna being the cat of the day one day. So I checked it out. However, I absolutely cannot recall how I came across Kirsten's site. Maybe from cutecats.com? I forget.

My brother-in-law found the site one day just surfing. He never exactly told me how. He saw a cute cat that was Cat of the Day and sent the link to me in an e-mail. When Pet Talk started I joined, having never joined any other thing of this type before.

Now the addiction is in full swing. It is my home page and I go on about 3 times a day. I have started to limit my time at the computer but the one thing I won't sacrifice is my Pet Talk time! By the way, my brother-in-law never visited again but I sure got hooked! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

A friend of mine (who has 4 cats) told me about Cat/Dog/Pet of the Day several years ago. I didn't have any cats at the time, but I loved the site! I enjoyed seeing the wonderful new photos everyday. I wonder if Cat of the Day contributed to my decision to adopt the two cats that I have today? I'm sure it did on some sort of subconcious level. Anyway, I'm also addicted to this site and I'm so glad it exists! I'm just crazy about animals and this is one of the best websites about pets. It's great how it brings so many different (yet similar!) people together. And it's so much fun! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

I heard about Pet of the Day form a magazine that had an animal section, and it said that you could enter your pet to be pet of the day.

I heard about it from Pamela (Pam_Pesto). One day I was looking at The Pam, Todd, and Pest Page, and saw a link to it, and so I checked it out. And then, I hadn't registered to be in Cat Talk, and finally I decided I would because Pamela suggested it, and it sounded really fun. And it WAS fun! I'm glad I did it! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif
Pamela, I have a question: How did you find cutecats? Were you just looking for a cat site in the search engine?
I think everybody is so fun in Pet Talk, it's a great place to meet other people like myself and talk about our furballs! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif I'm glad that people (Karen and paul especially) make sites this great! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif Pet Talk is wonderful!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/biggrin.gif

i found it a couple of years ago by random searching, i think the search words were cat photos. i "nominated" felix right away, and i don't think pet talk was available then. i check out the cat of the day almost daily, even when i'm out of town.

I found cutecats.com just by randomly typing in combinations of words into the location bar and seeing if there was a website for those words. I tried many different combinations with the word "cat" and "cats" and "kittens" and so on.

I found it when my good friend Lisa from another board were I'm also posting told me about this site. She suggested to nominate Luna which I did - and she was almost as proud as I was when her pic has been posted! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I found it through (indirectly) iwon.com. They have a section called Pet of the Day and one day the link to it wasn't working so I took a chance and typed in petoftheday.com and found this incredibly wonderful, chock-full-of-information site!! http://PetoftheDay.com/talk/smile.gif

I was told about Pet of the day by CPrince.
I decided to check out the other features and found Pet Talk. Now we are both hooked!

I just found this great site today. On an email list I belong to, someone;s horse was pet of the day (May 23 I believe, a TB named Oily) and today I cruised on in to take a look, and have spent a long time here reading posts! It's a GREAT place!

I was checking out www.kittycam.com. (http://www.kittycam.com.) Kitty is a former Cat of the Day who has her own office camera. I was reading more about her and I saw that she was a cat of the day and it had the link to her COD entry.

well, i found it, when i was talking to a friend from the Dog Bytes forum from Delphi on the board chat. she checks in to look at the pictures daily. well we were talking when she happened to notice mysicdoberman's dog. she had to tell allllll of us about it. so i came over and looked at pictures. then a few days later, i saw Leto and had to join so i could post on how beautiful he is. and that's how it all started.

It's worrying but I can't honesly remember! Most probably I found it surfing the web during my lunch break at work and now I can't do without it. I will be away for 2 weeks and I already have withdrawal symptoms.

I also want to thank Karen and Paul for setting this up. It's wonderful to see there are so many people who treat their pets as I do and therefore don't consider me too strange. It's the only place where I can talk easily about litter, little mishaps etc.

I was grieving over the loss of my cat Jasper, had tried everything I could to find him, and then decided to try my computer. I hadn't used it much until then. I checked out many different sites for lost pets, rescue groups or just about pets and never returned to most. Then I found PetoftheDay and it was different, real interesting. I searched some more and then quit. I never found another site I enjoyed as much.

I really don't remember how I found this site, but I think a good friend recommended it.

And Jasper's Mom - boy, are we glad you found this site or we would never have been able to hear the story of Jasper's adventures. And then to have him finally returned to you - everyone was so happy.

There is nothing like a good cry over reading about a beloved pet being lost and then returned to its owner!! Your story made my entire week!!

Sorry it took me so long to reply - I've been away from the puter at work and at home due to training, vacation bible school, job hunting, and on top of everything else I've been trying to recover from a tenacious illness.

Etour is still around, and is free. You can check it out here:

It's a relief to hear from others that they don't remember how they found Cat/Dog/Pet of the day either. I've been visiting for at least 6 months, but just discovered the 'talk' portion in the last month. It's a really great community and it's been marvelous to share concerns, joys and sorrows here. It's sad that so many in our 'real world' communities can't/don't even seem to know where we are coming from.

Thanks, you all are wonderful.

that's ok, i should have posted back to you. i have a bad habit of asking questions about stuff like that then going to look for myself. as soon as i was done w/ all the posts i did a search and found it...and joined. i wish it was set up a bit differently though. instead of random sites, i'd like to see a list of sites that you can click on. *shrug* it's pretty neat though. thanks!
