Here she is everyone! Wounds and all! She is still a beautiful girl. A little pathetic looking right now and look at her sad eyes. Oh goodness, I feel for my Katie Girl. She is doing very well. She is doing a lot of laying around and has been out to potty a couple of times today

The family would like the thank everyone for keeping her in your thoughts and hope you will continue to do so through out her recovery. We have 6 weeks of keeping her down and keeping her and Tori separated.

Her ankle cast. It looks like they cut her foot off to me. Its there though and we have to make sure we check it out and see if it feels warm. Warm is a good thing!

I know I keep saying it but I have to repeat myself again. We really can't thank you enough for all the prayers and positive thoughts. Please keep them coming! Katie still has a ways to go yet.

Even with the cast and shaved leg, she still looks pretty to me:) And it looks like they did a good job on her surgery as well. (well, you know, like the cast looks neat and the stitches look like they were done well) Nothing looks infected, so that's good! I hope you have a good and fast recovery!

Katie says Hi to everyone! She has joined me in the computer room and is curled up on the floor beside me right now. She is doing well tonite. I keep looking down at her leg and wondering how long it is going to take for all that fur to grow back...lol. She is going to look silly for quite some time.

For those of you who don't know and asked what happened. Katie tore up her ankle pretty bad a week ago today. She ruptured some ligaments and had a severe sprain. They had to go in and reconstruct the ligaments and put some pins in her ankle. She was already having problems with her knee (her knee cap pops out quite a bit) so while she was having the ankle surgery done they went ahead and repaired the knee too. We are not for sure how she tore up her ankle. I had put the girls outside and wasn't with them, just heard some major yelping and found Katie hurt. I assume the girls were running and rough housing and that Katie was injured. No more rough play for those two!! :eek:

I'll keep you updated on her recovery.

OUCH! What an incision! Poor Katie! I'm glad the surgery is all behind her now. Unfortunately I think the hardest part is coming up - keeping her quiet and away from Tori. :( Tell Katie that Bella and Ripley send her their love. :)

Oh my gosh! Poor Katie! :( I hope she has a speedy, safe recovery. Keeping them calm & relaxed can be difficult once they start to feel better.

Poor girl. She does look sad but I'm sure part of that is exhaustion from all she's been through the past few days. I know it's going to be fun trying to keep her inactive. Give her some hugs from me and kisses from Duke.

Oh Robin, I know how you feel, my GSD Mix (who lives with my parents) had a broken leg once, then a torn ACL a year later. So I know what you are going through right now. Keeping her comfy, quiet, and entertained. Tori has to wondering what in the world is going on!!! Poor girls... Oh Robin, I think you need this:

I am so glad to see your Katie back and looking beautiful. How long will she be confined. I don't have access to the PT on weekends and did thing about her. Hope her recovery goes well.
Tawny knows from her knee surgery( she wasn't allowed to go to the mail box to even check her peemail for 3 weeks, its tough keeping a good dog down. :)

Im gonna attach a pic of his knee 3 days post op, 5 weeks post op and then one so you can see he's still kinda only has "half his pants on." He has short hair and it's taking a long time to grow back!

Manda....thanks for posting pics of Smokey's post surgery knee. Goodness, I must say that Katie's looks quite nice compared to that first one. Smokey sure did bruise up real good. Looks pretty nasty. My oh my, it sure is gonna take Katie's shaved areas a long time to catch up isn't it? ;) I'll have to take some more pics as the weeks go by so we can watch it heal up. How is Smokey doing now? He sure is a beauty. I think you should post some more pics of him! Please! Give Smokey a hug from me and Katie please.

Katie seems ok today. Doing a lot of sleeping. She hasn't wanted to go out to potty yet and that worries me a bit. She did go this morning before I left for work She is laying beside me right now. Her daddy will be home soon and she will probably go out with him. I took Tori to doggy day care today. So she doesn't have to be confined and can get some exercise. She looked like she was having a blast when I left and didn't even notice I left...hehehe.

Welcome home, sweet baby girl! Oh, you sure do have your fair share of zippers and shaves and bandages:( What a trooper you are Katie, handling it all with such courage! I'm sure you're so happy to be home with your mommy and daddy and sister Tori; almost as happy as they are to have you home:) I'm with Jess...that forelorn look on your face is a real heartbreaker. But you've been through SO much sweetheart, who can blame you for being pooped! You take it easy Katie... your only job is to get your rest and make sure you eat, poop and piddle and let your mommy and daddy take of the rest:) And before long, I'm sure you'll be feeling lots better:) Keeping you in my heart and prayers, Katie and family:)
