Two in the morning and all is well,

The crickets are chirping, the cool night breeze is blowing and I am wrapped in the sleep of the innocent, dreaming of far away places.....

I push the pause button on my dream and awaken,
only to hear---

THUMP boink boink boink THUMP boink boink boink THUMP boink boink boink.

It sounds like an empty plastic soda bottle.

BANG BANG BANG.

I don't know what THAT SOUND IS.

MEOW!!!!

Now.... that is a crying cat.

I roll out of bed and notice that the patio light, which is motion activated, is on.

I get out of bed and turn on the house lights.

I hear THUMP boink boink boink again, Bang bang bang and MEOW!!!!!!!!!!

Ms. Morpheus finally clears my head and this is what I see....

One white cat, claw hooked on the screen of the open window.
He's stuck, crying and hitting the mirror that hangs next to the window.....that explains two noises-Bang and Meow!

The 'thump boink' is the sound of the dogs tossing an empty plastic bottle up in the air, against the wall of the house, to bounce on the brick patio.

Edward, ever mindful of the old adage, Curiosity killed the cat, decides to climb on the shelf, pull the curtain back and trying to claw his way out to join in on the fun.

Seeing that his claw is stuck on the screen, he begins to bang on the mirror, which is an heirloom from my grandmother's home, and pathetically cry for his father's help-While the 'pop bottle game' goes on outside the window.

Thanks to this extraordinary event and insomnia, I was able to view MORE olympic coverage until Ms. Morpheus finally decided to
lead me back into the Land of Nod at 3:30......

Morale of the story??

Recycle your bottles in a pet proof container.
Close the windows before you go to sleep.
Don't let the cat socialize with your dogs.
and know the meaning of THUMP boink boink boink THUMP boink boink boink THUMP boink boink boink.

If Eddie is anything like Andy he probably being fast and furiously grooming himself after you detached him from the window screen. :) That is how Andy deflects the embarrassment from some of the silly plights he gets himself into. It is cat body language for "I have no idea what you are talking about. I have more important pressing things at the moment like keeping my fur luxurious and squeaky clean."

I think you should make a little sign for your home - *Watch Cat On Duty!* Great story Richard. I could picture it all in my mind's eye as I read along! :D
