I've also posted those in the Kitty Olympics-thread, but I thought I'd make an extra thread for those who do not visit the Olympic post:

However, Lily has decided to get some practise in high flying tonight:

Kirsten,

You have just proven that Michael Flatley has no talent compared to Lily.

A little planning helps get some great action shots. If you can, get someone to shake that favorite toy while you take pictures.

If your camera is an autofocus type (rather than a fixed focus) turn that feature off because it will take so long to identify where the cat is that it will be too late. Pick an average focal point as to where the cat will be and go with it. A fixed-focus camera won't have a problem.

Use a flash but be sure the surface behind the subject isn't too reflective (like a mirror). You don't want to see the flash in the picture! The shutter speed is fast with a flash so it will stop motion.

So you tease the cat who's sitting on the back of the couch into leaping about 6 feet / 1.8m off the floor for the toy that has disappeared but WAS where his eyes and paws are before he jumped and you get a picture like this:

She looks like she's doing an Irish Jig here! :D Pouncer wants her to know he wishes he could be there to be her dancing partner.

I have to agree that she looks like she is dancing in a couple ofthose shots. They are FANTASTIC pictures Kirsten! You always have such great photos. Lily really puts on the show for you doesn't she? What a wonderful and gorgeous girl! I think there may be some very serious competition going on in the Olympics!!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/biggrin.gif

hehe! I would probably be so uncoordinated that I would throw the camera! :p These are terrific shots and Lily is quite the athlete! I think the only thing that would get my boys to jump these days is catnip!

GoldenRL just gave me an idea re: Kung-Foo kitty. Lily should not just enter the "Flying Kitty" event but also Kick-Boxing! A sure paws down winner :D Pam, I would probably throw the camera too  LOL

Kirsten, those pics are fantastic!! What a jumper Lily is, she's sure to win that discipline in the Olympics! ;) It would take quite a lot to get Fister to jump that high.

OMG Lily just gets more and more adorable - is there no end to her talents???

Well, Lily is a very tiny and skinny kitty and weighs only 3 g, so I figure it's easy for her to jump! Luna, however, never does! LOL
