I have tried catnip in many forms and Julie just doesn't react to or care about catnip. Do you have nippers or a non nippers?

My cat goes crazy for catnip! :) He especially likes fresh catnip, which I buy every weekend -- in the summer -- at the local farmer's market. I keep it in the fridge, and every time I open the door he runs over to the kitchen expectantly! I'm happy that Leon is one of the cats who *does* respond to catnip, because I love seeing him so happy eating it, rolling around in it, and just generally loving it!

Pouncer is a stoner, while Allen will take it or leave it depending upon his mood. I know that at any given time Pouncer will be up for a nice catnip induced high! :D (gee, where's the smilie for stoned kitty?)

A mix:D Emily does not respond nearly as much. The boys are another story. They go nuts, get agressively wild, then get stoned and then go to sleep. They respond best if I only use it occasionally and they prefer the human variety that is sold as a loose tea in nutrition stores. The kind I have bought in the Hartz brand and others sold as "catnip" for cats - they have no use for. They also responded strongly to the canadian catnip that Gary sent them:D Guess they are *choosey* about their nip. Again - Emily really does not care although she will sometimes get a buzz from my fresh catmint and catnip.

Yes, all three get nuts over it. In fact, I have to give it to them far apart or they end up in a paranoid fight. Jazz is worse for smacking some one when she is catnip stoned.

I remember one time years ago Ripley was on the coffe table in front of the tv just as high and paranoid on catnip as possible and a commercial for a chainsaw came on and the tv volume was loud. When that chainsaw cranked up he almost went through the ceiling. It looked just like those cartoons where the little dog comes up to the sleeping cat and barks and the cat goes up and hangs on the ceiling. I almost wet my britches laughing at Ripley.

Josie could care less . . . which upsets me considering all the $$$ we've spent on catnip toys!

Kirsten, isn’t valerian the stuff that smells like dirty socks?:D

My cats love catnip, but it makes Phoenix aggressive and he is temporally cut off as I now have band aids on my hand and foot.

Some of them love nip. Polly Paws is a total niphead. Felicia and Twicket prefer honeysuckle.

I accedentally noticed that! Remus got into my Valarian a while back and thats the most stoned I've ever seen him. He just kind of sat there listening to whatever voices he has in his head! I kind of got worried for a while, cause he just stared off into space for a couple of hours! 'Nip doesn't make him go nuts really *well for about 5 minutes he goes bouncing off the walls*. Then he just sits back and enjoys being mellow. Thats what I like about 'nip and him. When he is being especially obnoxious, I just put some nip on his scratching box *does he like the expensive scratching posts...nooooo he has to have a cardbord box...wierdo:rolleyes:* and he mellows right out.

Mine all love it, but I can't give fresh 'nip to Mobius; she's a MEAN DRUNK!! I got some fresh nip about a year ago from a family who adopted one of my fosters, and put it out. Everyone was rolling around and eating it; then Mobius started attacking the other cats. She never does that!

Growing up on a dairy farm, we always had lots of cats around. There was catnip growing naturally by the barn, and the cats would always keep it gnawed down to nubs. I need to grow some catnip for my three babies, as all of them love it. They only know three words: treats, mousie, and NIP!

All my cats love it except the baby Marshall of course because he's too young.
And 1 of my oldest..BooBoo never cared for it.
But we have catnip partys about every other day
on the kitchen floor.
All of us.LOL too funny.:D
