Welcome back! I spent the last few weeks working on cleaning up and renovating the third floor... half of it is my son's room and the other half was the guest room. My son took it upon himself to invade the whole third floor as his own, and since he's away at camp all summer and I have guests coming in (any minute now!) to stay for a week, I figured no time like now to redo it!

Without further ado, here's the third floor!
As you come up the stairs, you see this:

Now you're in the guest room looking at the window

We'll move into the middle room, or my son's "study" (We'll see just how much studying he does this year! :D ) The numbers in the frame are some of the numbers he wore on various track and cross country races.

The other wall in the study, Allen was taking a bit of a nap (keeping it cat related! ;) )

The walls were sponge painted by the girls and me about 3 years ago and I still love the texture - maybe its too soft for a boy's study, but he'll be only here another year before he leaves for college.

Standing in the study looking into his room:

A close up of the bedspread - too fussy for a boy? Hubby and I argued about this one. I thought it was too much, and he thought it was "regal" Either way, it DOES look super in the room! Above his bed are a few of the awards he's gotten for running. The black floral pillows are from his grandmom's couch, and he took them as a reminder after she died because they smelled like her. He loves them, so the room was planned around them.

Looking from his room all the way through the third floor. Sorry for the black trash bags! I was finishing off the final cleanup! :D

And for Kimlovescats, I didn't have a picture of my fireplace on the last tour:

Thank you!

Kitsten, yes, Allen approves of the new renovations... he's got new hidey holes because we've cleaned out so much stuff that things that were previously "plugged up" are now clear to hide. I am honestly amazed at how nice that corner looks. We didn't have those dressers in that room until the renovation - they were in my son's part of the third floor and I figured a 18 year old boy wouldn't be into fancy furniture, so I switched things around.

Killearn Kitties, you leave my house and you just never know what you'll come back to! LOL

Jen, you know better! I would be banned from this site if I posted before pictures. Lets just say that all non-essential pictures and posters are now in the trash. ;)

Kim, thank you! That lamp was in my Grandmom's house and I have always LOVED it too. When she died, it was the only thing my aunt and uncle didn't argue about me taking - they thought it was UGLY. Turns out hubby and the kids agree, so its up in the guest room :(

The best part of this renovation? It didn't cost more than $100 including the new sheets and bedspread for my son, and the ceiling fan we installed! Everything was either already here or found at a bargain outlet. :D *pats self on back*

Thanks for the tour of your makeover. It looks very nice and I love your fireplace.

I think it's very sweet that he wanted his grandmother's pillows because they smelled like her. :)
