Jasper never gives anyone kisses! I have gotten maybe 2-3 since I got him!

I have always heard that boxers were very "kissy" dogs, and most of the ones I know/know of are...

I have no idea how to get him to give kisses? But I would like to :D

Any suggestions?

I don't know, but Dusty doesn't give kisses either! Some people think it's so petty, but it really bothers me. At the best he'll like stick his tongue out real quick and make a kissing motion, but it never actually touches me. I think he's kissed me probably 2-3 times. I get so exctied when he does. My husband says that's the right kind of dog because he can't stand dog kisses. lol.

hmm... well... Meeka ALWAYS gives kisses.. and if you get in her face and say "gimme a kiss!" she will lick your face. But I have always thought of "doggie kisses" as a dog licking your face... (maybe what you just ate tasted good!) but I like to "pretend" she is giving me a kiss. LOL... But maybe Jasper is not a moochy cuddly dog. :) He may just not be interested in kisses! But that doesnt mean he doesnt love you! He probably has other ways of showing you that he loves you! :D That probably doesnt help much... but Oh well!

Well, Mickey is not really an affectionate dog so I'm not surprised that he hardly gives me kisses. He has done it more than when he was a puppy.. sometimes I'll lean by him to pet him and he'll give me a lick, lol. But it doesn't happen very often. It sort of disappoints me but I try not to push it. He shows me his love in other ways, as Carly mentionned. He *showers* me with them when he wakes me up in the morning, though. :p

Maybe Jasper isn't an affectionate dog?

All I have to do is bend over to Samantha, say "kisses!" and she's licking my face raw. She's always been very sweet-natured and very affectionate, so I have absolutely no idea what to tell you to try and get your dog to be more affectionate... Sorry... :(

Hmmm well Major licks me all the time. I think its probably just from sweat/food on my face. But sometimes he'll do it after I get cleaned up....Basically he just likes to attack us, and I've always said no to biting so he does the next best thing lol. But I can't really hug Major, and he doesn't cuddle with me either.

Robyn, put peanut butter on your face... you'll get tons of kisses that way! ;) Chloe is a very kissy dog, compulsive in fact. anna and arthur like giving kisses too. Charlie gives what I call Butterfly Kisses. He sort of sticks the tip of his tongue out and snuffles on your cheek. It's actually really cute. :)

Elvis is always giving kisses to everyone! lol

but Katie isn't a very kissy dog either, she doesn't show her affection that way.

Toby doesn't give many kisses. He shows his affection in other ways. Like laying his head on my knee and trying to sit on my lap ('trying' because he's Lab X and as big as me!)

Squiddy gives kisses and snuggles ... Ollie just LICKS you constantly which is cute but sometimes annoying.

No ideas on how you can get Jasper to kiss you, but im sure he loves you :D

some dogs are kissy some just arnt. all 5 of mine are kissy dogs, shadow however is not, never has been, in 8 years I got maybe 3 kisses from her, some people she kisses more then others, but the way I think of it, is a kiss from a dog like shadow is special because she does not kiss everyone all the time, so when you do get a kiss from jasper, think of it as special ;)

Sierra's never stops giving kisses, she'll sit next to me on the couch and will just lick.. and lick... my arm, leg... what ever is close to her mouth!! Buddy only gives kisses when I ask him to!
Or if I'm real close to his face talking silly to him, he'll kiss me as if he were saying "Ah Mom... your so cute!!
:D

Simba gives kisses all the time.

Nala livks your feet, arms, hands etc.. but she only gives kisses on the face when she's really happy to see you. When I'm gone for a while then come home. she loads me with tons of kisses.

It's too soon ti figure out with Kiara, but she too gives "excited to see you" kisses.

The only tried and true method I have for getting kisses from Kito is to smear cream cheese on my face. Sometimes, if I just get done eating something yummy like ice cream, he'll give me a kiss too, but that's it. But if someone comes to visit, like my cousin, or my sister, or my niece, he's all over them giving kiss after kiss. I get so jealous!!!!!!!! I know exactly how you feel.

Jada is a mad kisser--sh ekisses over and over and over, until she feels that you are kissed well enough. Riley is a very polite kisser, I bend over and ask him for kissies, and I get just one smooch. I can do it over and over, but he only gives them when asked. Abbey is my love bug though--always with the kisses!! I've gotten her to a point now though, where I bend down and say "I love you Abbey, and I get a big old smooch!!!!

3 out of 4 ain't bad, I suppose.

Tawny is not the kissy type either but she pushes her body up so tight to get a back end scatch I can't move, she then dances for me, paws up and down on the spot, it too cute. Each kiss I get I cherish. Peanut butter sounds like a good idea.

I know I'm a little late answering this but I just am getting back to posting.

Anyway, I've had 12 Boxer in my life and not one of them kissed. So I don't know why they say Boxer's are kissers cause none of mine ever have been. That why I have that statment on the bottom of my sig. It's a rare and special honer to be kissed by a Boxer.

Now being drooled on is a different thing. lol

An old co-worker of mine has two boxers. One is very kissy and one isn't.
If you want you could train him to kiss you on command. Put a bit of peanut butter, butter, cream cheese etc, on you cheek and say "kiss" and let him lick it off. You've done some clicker training with him right? You could click and treat as he licks it off.

Neither of my dogs are kissy, and I prefer it that way. Em will give me kisses if I ask for them and she feels like it. :)

Come to think of it, my dad's boxer, Joe doesn't kiss. He's the sweetest friendliest guy in the world, but I have never seen him kiss anyone.

Thanks everyone, he does show his love in other ways!

Also, Libby, none of them kissed?!, I think a boxer hug from Tuffy would make up for a kiss ;)

Both Tommy and Tasha are pretty kissy dogs, but their kisses are different. Tasha tends to give little excited baby kisses when she's happy, or sometimes she gets all motherly and does the foot or hand cleaning routine where she methodically drags her tongue over and over across the area she's "cleaning." My RB Cody was the same way about giving hand/foot baths.

Tommy's kisses tend to be more slurpy, but he's never been as much of a "cleaner."

My RB Willie was the first dog I had who was never much of a kisser. He kissed perhaps 3 people in his life, one being myself, and they were always brief little baby kisses.

Isn't it fascinating how different they all are in how they express affection? :)

Not one of them! :( And yes Tuffy's hugs make up for it, he has a special hug he gives, so there is no question's that he loves us.

Oz and Gully mainly give Nose Nudges, but Gully will kiss me on the nose and behind the ear too. More like nibbily kisses vs slurpy ones, which is a-okay with me. Oz will lick my arm and hand from time to time and every once in awhile, he loses his head and kisses me on the nose.

Murph, mainly gives finger kisses. He's never been kissy, but somewhere along the way, we came to a compromise with me sticking my index finger up and him kissing it. Every once in awhile he'll lose his head too and give a nose kiss.

Maddie was the most kissy kissy. I had to actually teach her to only kiss on the nose and when "Enough" was enough. When she was a puppy, we played kind of a "Gotcha" game. I'd stick my face right in hers and then pull back before she could kiss me. Oh she loved the challenge of trying to get a kiss in. We got to where we'd watch each other out of the corner of our eyes, trying to out maneuver the other. I had a friend, who took care of M&M, while I was a vacation and I forgot to mention the "Gotcha" game. The friend was leaning over to fill up the food bowl and wasn't paying attention to Maddie. I'm sure Maddie thought my friend understood the rules of the "Gotcha" game. Imagine both their surprise when Maddie jumped up to kiss her in the face and my friend didn't pull back. Busted Lip for my friend. ;)

I don't know why... but Nicki isn;t a kissy dog wither. She just won't. I am shocked the few times she will! Sometimes a pet lover will visit my house and ask Nicki for a kiss. Nicki gives her paw instead. So its a comedy routine of someone saying "Nicki, give me a kiss" and Nicki slapping her paw in the hand! It'll go on until the person gives up. Nobody's ever gotten a kiss from her though - ewven the people who say "no dog has ever NOT given me a kiss" Well, they haven't met Nicki!
