Poor itty bitty! He's on antibiotics now!

This morning he was having a huge sneezing attack and when I went to console him, I saw something in his mouth. I thought it was a feather or something he was trying to eat and it was stuck. Nope...it was phlegm...green and gross!!

Poor thing. Hopefully this will help and he'll be done with this.

Poor Basie!! Is it more than asthma now? I probably missed something!http://petoftheday.com/talk/images/our_smilies/rolleyes.gif No matter what it is Basie I hope you feel better soon. Take your meds and get some rest and tell meowmie you need some chicken soup. That always makes things better.
Hugs to you sweetheart.

Poor baby. I'm having enough trouble with my own allergies - I think I'd faint if a big goop of green phlem came out of me! I hope you feel all better soon and don't have the nasty goop any more.

Oh poor Basie boy!! What a scary thing to have a sick baby! I hope the neds start making him feel better real soon Kelly! Does it help him to run a vaporizer - like for skin-babies with asthma - to loosen up the green gunk?? Poor lil thing:(

Today's Uppydate:

Basie doesn't seem to be getting any better. He's more clingy and sneezy. :( He's getting his antibiotics, I had to force them into him this morning and am not looking forward to doing it again in a few minutes.

I'm going to take him in to see Dr. Hanser tomorrow. Thank goodness I have the day off for the BBQ prep. He's still eating and drinking, but the sneezing is worse and I can hear it a bit in his lungs again. My vet is a tiny bit concerned he might have pneumonia because he keeps sneezing up that goo. (not from his nose, from his mouth)

I think I'll do that Debbie. It sounds like it can help. I don't have a vaporizer, but I'm going to go take a bath and make it all steamy. I'll have Basie come sit on the toilet and I'll shut the door.

I'll let you all know how he's doing tomorrow. Thank you for your well wishes. :)

Oh gosh, I am so sorry to hear Basie is still not well.
I hope and pray that the vet will finally be able to help him out when you see him tomorrow.

Get well soon Basie.

Sorry to hear Basie is under the weather. :( I've used Zithromax for kitties with pneumonia, and it's saved the lives of a few tiny ones. It's a strong antibiotic that really kicks in fast, and is long lasting. I had a litter of seven kittens I rescued a few years ago, and one Sunday (always on weekends  ) one baby was gasping and going under fast! I grabbed a Zithromax tab, gave him a tiny chip, and said some prayers that he'd make it until he could see the white coats the next day. Monday came, and the kitten was up and full of it again! No need to see the vets. Hopefully your baby will respond to antibiotics fast. ;) It sure is the pits when they get so sick. :(

Here's a website I tucked away a while ago. The vets are using it more in the USA now. It's been pretty widely used in other countries, but vets here are a bit slower about new drugs for pets.

Basie's Uppydate:

I took him to see Dr. Hanser and we did two more xrays to check his lungs and had a good outcome. He doesn't have pneumonia nor does he have chronic asthma. GOOD!!! :) :) :)

She said he has an infection and he is really conjested. We're going to put him on a stronger antibiotic called Orbax twice a day and keep on his Clavamox as well.

She said that if he's not better on Sunday, we'll do some xrays of his sinus areas in the morning. She said there is some concern for polyps.

But, we'll cross our fingers that the Orbax/Clavamox combo makes him feel better. Last night, he had so much goo on his chest from sneezing repeatedly. Poor guy!!

He is eating, so that's a plus as well.

OK, gotta sign off...my BBQ guests are coming in 7 hours!!! eek!! :)

Thanks for the link! :)

Dr. Hanser suggested Chlamydia (could have gotten it from the birdies) as well. I'll ask her tonight about Zithromax.
