My Aunt Lena needs your prayers. She is like a grandma to me and helped my mom and me a lot with my grandma when she was sick and died. Aunt Lena is a VERY special aunt to say the least. Aunt Lena is 82 years old and still works. Sometimes she works 12 or 13 hours days, by choice of course. If you met her you'd think she was much younger.

Anyway, on Friday her daughter (my cousin) was picking her up to take her to her house for the week and Aunt Lena couldn't say certain words. She said she knew what she wanted to say, but couldn't get her mouth to say them. Thinking it was a stroke my cousin took her to the hospital. It wasn't a stroke, but it is a brain tumor. It's the size of a lemon and is pushing on the back of her brain. She has to have surgery on Friday and the outlook isn't great. If it's cancer it will be horrible, but if it's not it the surgery can still paralyze her. I saw her on Sunday and she's seems fine, except once in a while she won't be able to say a word.

To make things worse her granddaughter is getting married on October 2nd. I'm going to be one of her brides maids, but if the worst happens I'm not sure I even want to be there (even though I won't miss it)

Please keep my aunt in your prayers.

Prayers and positive thoughts being sent for you, your family and most of all, your Aunt Lena.

Eighty-two years old and is still sometimes able to work 12-13 hours a day. That is awesome.
Your Aunt Lena sounds like one strong, remarkable woman.

I'm so sorry to hear about your Aunt Lena. My grandma had the same thing, at a much younger age. Here's something you may want to try: Before my grandma's surgery we took some polariods of people and pets she loved. After her surgery, she found a lot of comfort in using the pictures to help her communicate with us because finding the right word/name was very difficult.

My thoughts and prayers will be with you, your family, and Lena.

Those things sure can be scary! I hope she makes it though the operation safe and they take care of that tumor. I know it must be very hard on your family. Hope it all comes out ok.

I just got a call from my mom about Aunt Lena. She made it out of surgery, so that's half the battle right there. The doctor is pretty sure he got the entire tumor, but he thinks there's an 80% chance it's malignant. Please keep the prayers coming.

I saw Aunt Lena last night. She had her surgery on Wednesday. She is one tough lady. She looked really good. Her head is, of course, all bandaged up, but other than that she looks good. She is still having trouble talking, but that is because her brain is swelled from the surgery. Thanks again for all the prayers. They really made a difference. :)
