Can I use Burts Bees herbal insect repellant on the chihuahuas? The mosquitos out at the farm are just terrible, and the chis' hair on the tops of their heads is so thin that they get covered with bites when they go out to potty.

I would only put it on their heads, where they can't lick. It works very well on us - we haven't had a single bite while we were using it.

The ingredient I'm most concerned about is Citronella.

Ingredients:
Active Ingredients: Lemongrass Oil 3.2%, Citronella Oil .40%, Rosemary Oil .40%
Inert Ingredients: Grape Seed Oil, Vitamin E.

I think most of the herbal stuff is ok... I know the only real dangerous ingredient is DEET.

Thanks, Heinz!

I just read that citronella oil is OK for dogs, and also lemongrass and those were the two I was worried about.

Poor little bald doggies.

I hate lemongrass! LoL It's a key ingredient in a lot of Thai food dishes and I can't stand the stuff! I couldn't handle my dogs smelling like the stuff. :D Although, I did find some great candles with just a touch of lemongrass that smell fantastic!

Ok, back to the point... lol I know that AVON skin so soft is ok to use on pups too. :)
