Thursday's #63 - Are we there yet??

Ok, OK, I know it's early but how can you tell I'm excited. I thought the theme this week could be California Dreamin' since some of us will be hopping cars, planes, trains, and boats to make it to Gini's on time.

So everyone, put on your best California garb and grab your surfboard and let's get this party started.

DOTD:

California Dream

Ingredients:
2 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Sweet Vermouth
1/2 oz. Dry Vermouth

Instructions:
In a mixing glass half-filled with ice cubes, combine the tequila, sweet vermouth, and dry vermouth. Stir well. Strain into a cocktail glass and garnish with a cherry.

Richard, that is Terry's all time favorite song! When he was young and foolish he was based at the Marine barracks near San Diego I think it is? Ever since then he has had an infatuation with California. I think he's a California boy at heart and once he's retired and we're full-time in the motorhome, we'll be spending lots and lots of time out that way. :D

Willie, my mom used to make dandelion wine but I have no idea what her recipe was. That was years and years and years ago when I was just a kid.

Yep, you got it Richard! Once it somewhat warms up in spring, it's really tough to get him back in pants until fall. He lives for "shorts season." Although he doesn't do the tank top thing (eeewwww!) T-shirts do just fine though. ;) :D

So I made it! 7000 under the belt and on my way to 8000. I think I need a drink to celebrate. I think I'll take one of them Swamp Thangs I had a few weeks ago. They're good! hee, hee, good and strong that is. ;) :D

Good morning all I can actually spend some time here eating blueberries with Mario this week. I just have made it clear to all around me I need my days off for ME this week. Doing just the housey things Laundery, dishes and working on my quilt squares for the PT quilts.
I was going to spin some new wool a freind sent but its going to be 90 today . I think wool is just a bit to warm today. cotton cloth is better.

T & P's Mom, Debbie, I feel your pain. I have been doing everything possible to lower my Blood Pressure, including knocking out caffeine, which means a limited amount of Diet Coke. Darn it! I love Diet Coke!! And I used to drink 2-4 per day, but I am down to one now. Hope it is helping as I miss it so much!!!! :o

Gee, I can't believe how many are trying to quite the Coke thing like I am! :eek: Maybe there's a Coke Addicts Anonymous out there for us. ;) :p

I broke down and went to McDonald's for lunch. Not quite the good food you'll get here at Thursday's but their Coke is what started it years and years and years ago, and still, to this day, nothing beats a McDonald's coke. Like Laurie says, it has to be out of the soda fountain, with 5 home tray type ice cubes and a straw. Out of the can - forget it! Out of the plastic bottle - no thanks! .....I've got it bad....:rolleyes:

I make it with half strawberry pop and half coke or a little less strawberry if you don't like it strong. I used to work at a little burger joint, way before McDonald's was born. We fixed some wild drinks with coke.
I love the smell of coke from the fountain!

In real life I haven't had any brand of pop for months. My tummy has been bothering me and it feels so much better if I leave the stuff alone. It's water or tea for me! I sure miss it though!:( :D

In honor of Mario and his new love of blueberries, here is a good recipe. I've made it a lot of times and love it!

BLUEBERRY SOUP

2 CUPS (1 PINT) BLUEBERRIES
1/2 CUP SUGAR
1 TBSP CORNSTARCH + 1 TBSP WATER
1 1/2 CUPS WATER

BRING 1 1/2 CUPS WATER TO A BOIL. ADD BERRIES AND SUGAR, STIRRING JUST UNTIL THE SUAR IS DISSOLED.

ADD CORNSTARCH THAT WAS MIXED WITH 1 TBSP WATER.

RETURN TO A BOIL.

COOL.

COVER AND REFRIGERATE. SERVE WELL CHILLED. ADD A DOLLOP OF SOUR CREAM OR YOGURT IF DESIRED. NON FAT WORKS GREAT TOO.

MAKES 2, 1 CUP SERVINGS.:D

In reality I'm a big water drinker and when I'm working I go through about 2 litres a day because I don't drink coffee or tea. Also, when it's this hot, liquor just doesn't appeal to me.
The humidity here lately is so bad you need at least a couple of showers a day to keep the bugs away....:eek: :eek:

I was up at 3 a.m. last night and the radio show host announced that they were going to launch a satellite from Vandenberg AFB
at 3:01.,.

I padded outside and watched.....it was like a slow sky rocket going up....I saw the booster separate and the main payload shoot off out to the Pacific.....

It was beautiful!!

Don't feel like the Lone Ranger! I'm allergic to milk too. I sure miss ice cream!!!

The difference between a milk allergy and being lactose intolerant is lactolse intolerance only gives you gas. My milk allergy makes it hard to breathe and can give me violent headaches and ear infections

. If I only had an intolerance, I'd drink the milk and let the rest of the world worry about the gas!:eek: :D
