FINALLY! I am posting the pictures I took from horse camp! There aren't as many as last year, it was so hard to squeeze time in to take pictures, I was constantly working up there. A bunch of the horses got injured on barbed wire fencing and got some pretty nasty cuts, I was put in charge of taking care of them twice a day. That right there was hard work. Plus, to make it worse, we had rain just about every day, and of course there are hills all around the corral, so all the water drains into the paddock making it a giant mud pit. It's so hard to work in those conditions, and I feel so bad for the horses, luckily it dries up really fast in the sun. We are supposed to be getting 4 new horses, they were supposed to come the weeks when I was up there, but their coggins results didn't come in on time. One is a Morab (Morgan X Arabian), and the others are Quarter Horses. Chad the farrier made many visits to trim the horses, so I spent a lot of time helping him out and talking to him. Chad is so cool, I love him lots. :p He has a huge horse farm right down the road from camp, he raises and races Standardbreds. He told me I was welcome to come over anytime and he will teach me how to drive horses (riding in a cart behind the horse). I am so excited, when I go there I will take pictures!! :D So anyways, here are the pictures. I am sorry I am posting them all, I am sure they are taking forever to load on your computer- sorry, but they are worth the wait!! I would make a folder on Webshots or something, but for some reason it never works for me.

This is a picture of me and my (adult) friends, I had an archery golf tournament the first weekend I was at camp, I took home 1st place in my division! :D

Here is a picture of my 'co-worker' Adam, oh man, let me tell you, working around the horses is a lot more fun when he's around. ;) This isn’t the best picture, but it will do. I had an AWESOME picture of him, and I accidentally erased it, man was I mad at myself for that one!!!

Of course I took pictures of Chad working on the horses:

Whiz, Big-Un, and Jazzie licking minerals. Whiz is the one with the pink bandage, he cut his fetlock open, I had to clean the wound and bandage him everyday too.

I walked around the paddock and took pictures of some of the cooler horses we have @ camp.

This is DJ. DJ is a gigantic Quarter Horse, who was in training to be a police horse, but he was severely gun shy- obviously he could not be a police horse, and was donated to camp.

This is Napoleon, he is a Haflinger. He will not get any bigger than he is, he’s a pony, however; he is a little on the small side for a Haflinger. He is only a staff horse and has many issues, he will most likely be sold, because he considered a danger to campers with less experience he caused a little girl to break her arm- camp can’t risk having him around. My friend Heather and I have been trying to work with him exclusively to see if we can calm him down and train him more, so he could have a second chance, but it’s not working.

This is Napoleon’s little booger friend, who is just as bad as Napoleon, except not as dangerous. He too is being given special training to see if he can be calmed down, but it’s not working. There old owners have ruined these two horses. :( I have no clue what breed he is, I love how his blaze runs down the side of his face!

Here is Fuzzy T, a Thoroughbred. This poor boy is at the very bottom of the herd and gets picked on constantly, since he is a newer horse in the herd. Spirit, my favorite little guy, is his best friend and they are ALWAYS together. :D

This is Blue, he is a Mustang. He is at the top of the herd, and keeps everyone in line, he basically runs the place. Blue has a serious attitude problem, he is down right scarry when he’s ticked off, but he’s adorable when he’s relaxed. I took these pictures during his relaxed stage- I am no where near him when he’s pissed!! :p Blue has one brown eye and one blue eye- they are sooo pretty! He’s spectacular under the saddle!!

I saved the best for last! Here are pictures of my little man, Spirit. Spirit is a small Arabian, and I love him to pieces. I cannot even begin to tell you guys how awesome this little guy is, half my heart is set aside for him.

On Wednesday, last week, Amy and I tried to rake out the mud a little bit to make the ground more even, so it would dry faster. There was a huge mud water lake right infront of the gate, the water was almost knee high. This is a huge danger to both people and horses, so we spread out the mud and water. We got rid of the puddle, most of it got on our clothes:

I looked retarded, my facial expression had to be covered up!!

To celebrate the 4th of July, Camp had a float, or should I say wagon, in the 4th of July parade. A couple of staff members, including me and my best friend Amy were in the parade. The wagon was pulled by Daniel and Ben, Percherons, owned by people who live next to camp and breed Percherons.

Excuse the dumb facial expressions, we were looking right into the sun to take the picture. Ow, my eyes.

To end the thread, a picture of a sunset on the lake camp is on:

I know! It's a shame he has problems, he would make an awesome little trail pony for kids afraid of big horses. He is such a sweetie once he gets to know you. That mane- what joy to comb out! Ha.

Spirit is so cute!He looks pretty small for an Arab.

Yes, indeed, Spirit is small for an Arab- he's definately not a textbook Arab, but who cares, I love him to pieces. The typical Arabian is 14.2 to 15 hh, I can't remember what he measured out to be.:p

Added: If my mind remembers correctly, I think Heather said he's a Shagya Arabian, which are a little different than the typical Arab. They are smaller have a more compact back, larger frame, bigger shoulders, etc- more like Spirit. I would have to ask Heather again. :p

I loved all the horse camp photos!:)
Thanks for posting them.
DJ looks a lot like Sunny the Palomino QH my daughter rides.
Fuzzy T reminds me of Mickey, my friends Thoroughbred, who also gets picked on by the other horses.
Spirit is such a cutie!
I also loved the mud pics and I do believe I saw a cute cowboy too!;)
I guess I better get my horse photos posted now since you posted yours.:)

I love all the pics! I'm jealous. I want to go to horse camp! No work all summer long. At least, none I'd mind doing. Looks like you had lots of fun. I can really sympathise with you on the leg wrapping. Taking care of one horse is bad enough, much less having to do more.
